Mike Davis is one game away from dancing.

Texas Southern is in the SWAC finals.
If he wins tomorrow, he will have taking three different schools to the tournament. How many coaches have taken three schools to the tournament and been fired from two of them.
Cliff Ellis has it with 3.
I was expecting something about the gamecock band

Lots of coaches have taken three schools, but getting fired from those schools takes a special personality.

Ellis was only fired from Auburn I believe
Looks like Ellis moved one from USA to Clemson, to Auburn & "resigned" from Auburn.
Mike Davis never took UAB to the NCAA Tournament. We lost in the play-in game, which means we didn't get in.

Your information is wrong. The NCAA does not have a play in game. We lost on the first round.
The NCAA considers it a 1st round game.
Cliff Ellis has taken 4 schools.
Yes, but not fired from 2 or more - which was MB's point.
Yea it counts. It's the first round. There is no such thing as a play in game.

I hope Davis wins. More power to him.

Completely wrong. The first round is now the play in game. Also, did you not watch selection Sunday? They typically don't include teams that don't make it in.

Sax?
We made the tournament. Sorry to anger the rapidly growing amount of cry babies on here but it counted. It was time for Mike to move on from here but I liked him as a person. I'm rooting for him.
I hold no ill will towards Davis or any of our former hoops coaches.
Whether it was self inflicted is debatable (academics/discipline issues), but Davis did a good job with short handed teams in year 2 (injuries and academics), year 3 (academics/discipline), and year 4 (nobody in their right mind thought that team would start 18-2 and get ranked in the top 25). It was the fact that his teams consistently choked on the big stage and that he didn't recruit or build the program for about 2 or 3 seasons that did him in. Wins/losses wise he was a good coach.
Watch him become the first 16 seed to beat a one seed.

Ummm, there's only one person here that has stated otherwise, and everybody else has disagreed with him (or agreed with you)
