According to his latest tweet. He's hinted at stuff like this several times before on Twitter, but this one seems much more serious than usual.

"But I can't hold this in any longer I will not be returning back to Marshall next year ! It's been fun"

Tough loss for the Herd but how many threads does this need?

UTEP needs a good point guard. jk That sucks for Marshall but you coach seems like a d-bag to me. How much longer will your administration stick with him?
Marshall's program has completely tanked.

Multiple resource report that Herrion has already been fired, thankfully.

This is pretty accurate. The only thing we can do is change the leadership. With Herrion fired, the next step is getting a solid hire. From there, it seems like next year will be another rebuilding effort.
No doubt. This needed to happen after losing to Southern Miss 102-46.

I wish we'd fired him at the end of last season. Herrion's first two seasons weren't so bad, really - making it all the way to the CUSA title game against Memphis, an NIT berth for the first time in 2+ decades during his second season were definite pluses.

But the last two season have been an absolute free-fall nightmare:

2010–11 Marshall 22–12 9–7 6th CIT First Round
2011–12 Marshall 21–14 9–7 6th NIT First Round
2012–13 Marshall 13–19 6–10 9th
2013–14 Marshall 11–22 4–12 15th
Marshall: 67–67 28–36
With talent too. Last year's team was very talented.

Yea, exactly. We've had solid talent the last 6 seasons or so but we barely run any plays at all lately. It's almost entirely streetball. The 11 games we won this year were won on talent alone. Can only fathom how many more we would've won with actual strategy, play-calling and overall coaching ability.
Y'all should look at Greg Heiar.

don't give them any ideas Shifty, til we know exactly what DT's gonna do!!!

Although I'm not a big fan of bringing in Heiar if DT decides to go elsewhere *knock on wood that it DOESN"T happen*,. I know a lot of USM fans are.

I'd rather take a shot at trying to aim for Rick Stansberry (former MSU coach, who was vastly under-rated.).
I am just hoping Donnie stays.

That would be interesting, as Wichita State's current head coach was an assistant at Marshall for 2 or 3 seasons. So there's a connection there.
Canty has been saying he's leaving before he even got into uniform. I'll believe he's gone when Marshall gives a press release about it.

The Huntington Herald dispatch reports that Herrion is leaving by resignation. This HAD to happen if Marshall had any chance of improving its BB program. Canty's leaving is probably symptomatic of the real problem.
