11-1. #1 in the RPI. Wins over #7 Mississippi State and #14 Ole Miss. Compared to team's resumes in the top 25, our resume warrants a top 15 ranking. But we will be lucky to even crack the top 25 for the simple fact that voters are not used to seeing Memphis on their ballot haha
Just keep winning and I will not complain
Who in the AAC has a good baseball program historically? I must admit I don't know much about college baseball outside C-USA and the ACC.

Tulane and Houston are historically stong baseball programs. Memphis baseball is more than respectable, but we have never made it to Omaha.
East Carolina might just have the most NCAA Tournament appearances at 25, but no College World Series appearances. Houston and Connecticut each have 18 appearances, while Tulane has one more.

As far as College World Series go, Connecticut has 5 appearances, Houston, Tulane and Temple each have a pair, but Tulane's appearances are far more recent than the others.

As a Houston fan, I'm really looking forward to playing Memphis and South Florida this season.
FWIW, the all-time record for the largest college baseball attendance involves an AAC member: Houston at San Diego State drew over 40,000. The 2nd largest crowd also involves an AAC member: LSU at Tulane drew over 30,000. I am confident that the AAC will excel in baseball.
Congrats to Memphis. Anyday that OM or MSUcks loses in any sport is a good day.

We lost last night to Central Arkansas, 4-2 in a game which went 17 innings. UCA mirrors Memphis: strong pitching and tight defense. The game was 1-1 until UCA broke it open in the 17th inning.
Houston just beat #9 UCLA in Los Angeles earlier today. Including the win over #11 Rice, and #26 Texas Tech, this is the third nationally-ranked opponent Houston has taken down. Now with an 11-2 record, they've only lost a close game to #15 Texas and #12 TCU, we should finally be ranked this week. Memphis might have a tough time getting there though because of strength of schedule.
Memphis is 12-2 after splitting the first two games against Central Arkansas.A 4-2 loss in 17 innings and a 2-1 win in 14 innings.

I'm glad Memphis is off to a hot start. But Central Arkansas isn't Top 100 according to Massey.

Aside from Ole Miss, #76 Samford seems to be the best team Memphis has played.

Massey predicts Memphis to finish 41-15. Others:

Houston: 43-12
Louisville 36-19
USF 37-18

No one else is predicted to win 30 games.

Memphis' strength of schedule is now #6.

Mississippi State is a far better win than Samford. State was #7 when we beat them. The RPI rankings don't really mean anything yet. Too early.

They were good enough last season to rake 2 out of 3 at Mississippi State (who played for the CWS championship vs UCLA). Most of that team is back. Unfortunately, they are still good enough to take 2 out of 3 hard-fought games (17 innings and 14 innings) from Memphis this weekend and ruin our chance to be ranked.

Question Memphis fans

I know baseball season is young, but what has been your team biggest surprise thus far, offense or defense???

43-12 seems a little ambitious.
