Wow that is quite a shock. I remember that Mo Hall had been the starting QB before Jim Kelso beat him out for the job, but Kelso got injured in the Kent game late in the 1981 season and Mo stepped in again.
As I recall San Jose St. was ranked #24 or #25 when the Rockets played them in the California Bowl in Fresno (almost a home game for them) and was a heavy favorite going into the game----but Mo Hall et. al. put the Rockets in a position to win and Tony Lee sealed the deal with "The Kick That Won the West" as time ran out.
