Florida Atlantic has fired coach Mike Jarvis, sources told ESPN.

Jarvis, 68, has been at FAU for the past six seasons. The Owls are 10-19 this season and 5-9 in Conference USA this year.

He led the program to the NIT in 2011. He had one year left on his contract.

Jarvis also coached at Boston University, George Washington and St. John's in his career, taking GW to the Sweet 16 in 1993 and St. John's to the Elite Eight in 1999.
Does he even get to finish the season?
wonder who else in CUSA is on the hot seat?
Nice of FAU to fire him two days before we play them at their place.
This is all news to me and our Owl's Nest Board, I just got the push notification on my phone, so nothing else yet.

Ben Braun at Rice from several accounts.
It was time. Jarvis just didnt deliver even when we were in the SBC. He has NEVER won a single post season game for FAU in 6 years.

Dieter is confirming it as well.
Our AD is looking to put his stamp on the program. Jarvis was from the old Regime.
got any ideas who FAU will be looking at to replace Jarvis?
Our beat writer threw out these names pretty quickly.

Florida Assistant Matt McCall
Louisville Assistant Mike Balado

I believe Balado used to be part of FAU's program as an assistant.
You should hire Greg Heiar.

LOL

They fired their football coach on the Wednesday before we played them in football. Didn't help us.
So we think it's just wins & losses as the reason to fire the coach before the end of the season and CUSA tourney. Seems to put the team in a bind.
Was he caught partying with Carl Pelini (j/k - Jarvis always has seemed to be a class act).

McCall was an assistant at FAU from 08-10 then got hired to Florida, before FAU he was in charge of basketball ops at Florida,

FAUOwlAccess is mentioning a possible NCAA violation issue with a Syracuse coach being at The Burrow.

FAU did not immediately respond to media requests asking for an explanation of the decision, but in recent weeks FAU had been investigating the presence of former Syracuse coach Bernie Fine at Owls' practices as being a potential NCAA violation.

Sources tell OwlAccess.com that FAU's compliance office has been interviewing current players in regards to Fine's presence at FAU practices this season.
