Chance to go .500 both conference and overall, even if it is for a short stint. Huskies anywhere from 1.5 to 3 point dogs for this one. Go Huskies!
I'll bet CMU's triple overtime win over lowly Ball State was something to behold a couple days ago.

If this game goes anything like the first time NIU played the Chips, it'll be good watching. But I don't expect NIU to blow them out yet again.
The MAC should have a stream up for this one, so around game time (1 p.m.), you should go to the link below and watch NIU (hopefully) get to .500 this late in a season for the first time since Jordan Lynch had great hair density.

NIU-CMU stream

For such a perimeter based team like CMU, playing at home with a familiar shooting backdrop makes them so much more dangerous in MT Pleasant. They nearly knocked off the league's co-top team WMU earlier this year, and that was on the road. I think the MAC this year has even exceeded the Wally World days someone referenced a few days back. I cant remember this many good teams in one year in this conference.
I think the MAC is less top and bottom heavy (like it is for football), but I wonder if the top of the current MAC could match the top of the MAC from those days.

Maybe top team vs past top team would be rough, but top 5 vs previous top 5's, that is not even close, this year is the deepest the conference has ever been.
This is the type of game this feels like to me today:

NIU 26
CMU 36

Halftime - CMU shoots something crazy like 7-12 from 3-pt range

NIU 57
CMU 60

Final

NIU chisels away at the lead but CMU just hits that 3 at the right times to keep the distance

MD, why do you insist on going overboard? What past top 5 are you talking about? The MAC as a league doesn't even have exceptionally talented players leading teams ala Ron Harper, Palombizio, Grant Long, Dan Majerle, Bonzi Wells, Wally Szczerbiak, Antonio Gates, Chris Kaman, etc. This is not even the highest the MAC has been rated as a league.
NIU 66
CMU 59
uP 6-3

Wait are you talking about this league today vs the Hall of Fame MAC roster? Ok yes if you take a roster of the best MAC players of all time, they are probably better than Toledo this year. You can say that about any conference all time all star team though.
Ah, I live for the day when someone mentions NIU's shooting percentage without putting the word "only" in front of it.
CMU just has a terrible offense. Shoot a three, hope for the best. NIU will get 80% of the rebounds today.

It is, but they are capable of nailing 3's in bunches. When they do that, they look like world-beaters. Kind of like the softball team rosters the white sox have put on the field. When you hit HR's you look good, when you stike out, you don't.
That CMU fan in the cowboy hat is my hero. Somebody make a GIF of that.

They haven't beaten many teams from this world lately.
This camera angle is god awful.
Completely different offensive approach in this game. In DeKalb NIU was very aggressive at pounding it inside which eventually set up the outside game later in the game. NIU settling for the low percentage 3-pt attempts so far, not a good sign.

Playing WMU even at WMU was an eye opener for me.
Yes! The cowboy hat fan is back! Instead of watching NIU-EMU, that guy should be shown.
