A few points to note from the KSU Baseball Preview and the 1st 2 box scores:
-Duncan is an "offensive minded coach" and has different practice philosophies/team building ideas than Coach Stricklin
-1B stud recruit, Connor Simonetti hasn't started or played either game thus far and he was expected to start right away. (Maybe he is injured?)
-OF recruit, Keyshawn D'Orso is missing from the roster and I know they were looking at him starting right away
-Middle INF recruit, Zach Beckner, hasn't played in either game and he was supposed to come in & play 2B right away
-Middle INF Recruit, Zak Laneve, is missing from the roster. He originally went to UNC Chapel Hill for a yr, then JC for a yr, and was headed to KSU
-I wonder if the Game 3 starter will be John Fasola, the Walsh Jesuit product who transferred to KSU from Kansas State?

Beckner got in last night's game. He got on base in his only AB late and played a few innings in the field.
Game 3 underway from Tucson AZ: KSU is down 4-1 to the Wildcats through the bottom of the 5th. KSU has left 4 runners on base thus far.
LHP Redshirt Senior Michael Clark got the start for the good guys and now John Birkbeck has taken over in relief.
Starting Lineup:
SS Sawyer Polen
2B Justin Wagler
CF Alex Miklos
DH Zarley Zalewski
1B Cody Koch
RF TJ Sutton
3B Curtis Olvey
C Tommy Monnot
LF Jon Wilson

Arizona 7 KSU 1, bottom of the 8th inning. KSU can't get anything going offensively and it looks like 7, possibly 8 pitchers might throw for KSU this afternoon.
That's a wrap. Arizona 7 KSU 1 in game 3.
At least we got one on the road, and did so in convincing fashion.
Could be worse. Scott Stricklin's Georgia Bulldogs lost to GA Southern today in their rubber match, 18-4. The Dawgs gave up 30 runs in three games and allowed 21 hits in yesterday's shellacking. They were playing at home.

Now KSU's schedule lightens considerably. Time to go out and make some progress. I personally want to see the starters get deeper into games this weekend. I suspect it won't be long until Eric Lauer is a part of the weekend rotation. He was fantastic Saturday night.

Also of note: around the conference CMU - who many pegged as the MAC favorite - was swept in four games at UNLV. Ball State won all three games this weekend against USC Upstate, Morehead State and Wofford. Buffalo had all of its games cancelled, Akron lost a doubleheader to Winthrop and Eastern Michigan lost two out of three at Clemson but played very well.

And WMU got swept in Memphis.

D'Orso shows up on the roster of Merceyhurst NE, which appears to be playing DII JUCO. I couldn't find anything recent on LaNeve, but it seems he only hit .150 in JUCO last year, so I doubt he would've showed up here and turned into Cal Ripken Jr..
