I actually like our non conference schedule this year except for the Maryland game - no to them unless they want to come here - which I doubt they'll ever do. I think they look at themselves as superior, which IMO they really aren't. But thats another subject.
But I want us to start playing several of the teams we play this year, from here on. Of course ORU (and I wouldn't mind scheduling them twice like we used to). I like the Wichita St series and Missouri St from the Valley. We also need to schedule either an OSU or OU series as long as they will commit to coming to the Don - not the BOK. (If thats (BOK) the deal, forget it.) I also like the TCU series since they are in the Dallas area. And I'd like to schedule a series with North Texas in both MBB and FB. Maybe the same with La Tech out of CUSA. Those are all good regional schools that could develope into rivalries and bring fans and be close enough for our fans to go there too. To me, we need to begin scheduling for attendence in the preseason because our tough conference will allow us to go to the NCAA tourney regardless of how we do outsided the league.
With SMU and Houston in the conference as well as Tulane in Louisiana, we could concentrate on recruiting those regions. Ray and Swilling were from La and we have had several Texans of course for many years.
What I'd like about a schedule I described is we would be covering recruiting areas we have a footprint in, but we also become a known quantity as a regional player of importance in those markets. A Maryland series or some other program a long way away, really doesn't give us much except a long, exhausting trip and a lot of distractions and a crap official.
These are the teams I'd love to see us sign series with:
Wichita St

Baylor
ORU (home and away each year) (advantage - no travel)
La Tech
USM
UTSA
Arkansas St or UALR or Central Arkansas
That would be the primary pool of teams.
