When you play NKU, it becomes a slow, ugly game where neither team can score. But when you play Lipscomb, it tends to be a high scoring affair where neither team can stop the other, like the 82-80 match in the Dome.

Lipscomb can score – they are second to Mercer in points per game at 75.3. They lead the league with 204 made 3 pointers and have several guys (Khion Sankey, J.C. Hampton and, to a lesser extent, Josh Williams and Martin Smith) who can put them up. They have no real post players, but have five guys in the 6’4” to 6’5” and 220 range who can score inside and out. They make a tough matchup for the Bucs. On the other hand, they don’t defend that well.

Lipscomb is smack in the middle of the ASun at 6-6 and will finish no worse than .500 (9-9), better than almost anyone predicted. They are highly likely to beat Kennesaw, UNK at home and Stetson at home. They are likely to lose to Mercer and FGCU. If they beat ETSU again (and this time at their place) they may well finish a game above .500, and get a chance to host a home game in the ASun tournament.

On the other hand, if ETSU wins at Lipscomb, they will be in good position to finish over .500 and host that first round game themselves.

Last game 6’4” 218 freshman Josh Williams went off for 34 points against the Bucs. Murry’s strategy of frequently switching defenses (used against both Lipscomb and Mercer) may make it hard for the Bucs to focus on the guy with the hot hand (like Williams or Bud Thomas of Mercer). People have enough trouble remembering their responsibilities in the rapidly changing sets.

The Bucs really need 6’7” Hunter Harris, who has a length advantage inside, to shake off whatever illness has been slowing him down the last 2 games. Jalen Riley, meanwhile, has given us the steadiest and most efficient play of his career the last 5 games, averaging 13.7 points on high percentage shooting (46% from the field, .444 from 3 and .917 from the line) with 2.6 boards in only 20.2 minutes of play.

If ETSU wants to do anything in the ASun tourney, now is the time to step it up.
To add to your points, swvabucsfan, I'd like to see Lester continuing to contribute, in one way or another. Lester represents such a critical player for us. I think this game provides him an opportunity to bully inside, like he did against Jacksonville. He's coming alive at the right time.

Better decision making/efficiency from Jalen and a resurgent Lester make our bench a potent one. I sure would like to see Giplaye have an opportunity to give us hard-nosed defense underneath.

I'd love to see us go 5-2 in these last 7 games and finish in 3rd place.

One game at time....Go Bucs.
Could this be the game where we don't blow the lead? Keep it up Bucs!
Need to weather the storm here
Lead blown. That didn't take too long did it?
These refs are terrible. The redhead for Lipscomb has committed at least 8 fouls. All contact between him and the Bucs have been called on the Bucs. Also he is camped out in the lane on almost every possession. How many 3 second calls? ZERO
What you would expect from an ETSU v Lipscomb game. 50-48 at half.
Holy Pick-Up Game, Batman! Defense optional in Nashville today.
We shot 70% in first half and are only up by 2. We need to pick up the defense in second half.
Of course we give up the easy 3 to close the half .

I just turned it on to catch the 2nd half. On pace to finish 100-96! Crazy!
Jalen Riley playing incredible basketball. WE NEED STOPS!!!
I honestly hope we keep playing Lipscomb. It's a great game every time we play them.
There we go, a 6 point lead! Riley at 30 with exceptional shooting from 3 and the foul line. Finish this!
Jalen Riley, shades of Courtney Pigram. Unstoppable.
He is reminding me a big of Pigram. Great win here for the Bucs!
