What in hell does it not being enough for a first down have to do with anything? The ball was clearly spotted a yard short and he was challenging the spot, not if it was a first down or not. Why does he lose a challenge and a time out because the game officials missed the spot by a yard? They even moved the ball to where it should have been,
Mellow out. Must you hate everything?

Don't come into a man's thread and tell him to mellow out. Your participation in this thread is pointless and and holds no value to the thread's intention.
However, all your blabber is a damn good imitation of the vastly self overblown Sheldon Cooper. So, kudos there-schmuck.
Let's fight...

It would be dumb to challenge a spot that wasn't a first down. He challenged whether it was a first down.

You are always in the female type discussions. Did you and your partner decide to go separate ways? What brings you to the male section, isn't this out of your comfort zone.

Has your little friend visited you this month, it has been bout 28 days.
Did anybody ever beat Mike Tyson in the old Mike Tyson Super Punch out on the old Nintendo system?

But how many bad calls are they going to have in the Championship game? Fumble call wasn't close and thankfully overturned. On Denver driver ref comes in and uses foot to spot ball less than a foot from 1st down. When ball set for play it is set a yard back. Thought these were supposed to be the best of the best game officials. On original call of thread ball in the hand of the player and on the ground in bounds just a few yards from official and he mis-spots it by over a yard.

Yup. I see Sheldon Cooper all over you. Exactly what "friend" products work for you?

So how often would it be ok for you for the game to be stopped because a ref missed a spot by a half a yard.

Hey the game is close at the end I have two challenges and 1 timeout...If the refs miss 3 spots by a small amount I have essentially four timeouts right.

Players get fined for penalties why not fine officials for blowing calls. Seen a decrease in quality officiating across the boards in all sports. But no one does anything to address the issue. When you get between $25,000-$70,000 and work only 1 day a week for less than half a year, then they should expect more from you.
Officials are humans. Humans make mistakes. Until you have ref'd, um'd or officiated in any form, you have no idea how fast things happen. Replay is often used to show officials errors. There is no replay when you make the call live.

You want officials to be fined for mistakes. Are players fined for mistakes? Does Manning get fined for throwing an interception? Do running backs get fined for a fumble?

Throw enough of them and you get fired.... so yes.

So you never make mistakes in your job?

There are some officials that are better than others. And they do have bad games, it happens. Manning had a bad game today, as did his entire team. Officials have days when they are not at their best. It does suck when your team gets a bad call, but to constantly blame officials because a call goes against you is kinda lame. Nobody complains when the call goes your way, yet they cry like a girl when the call is against you. At the end of the day, I would imagine calls are 50/50 or at worst 45/55 for one team.

Sure, I do. And if I mare enough of them, I get fired. I'm just pointing out that you that, yes indeed, when payers make enough mistakes, they will be on the unemployment line. So should officials. If an official makes a bad call, okay. If he makes 5 or 10 bad calls (or no-calls) in one game, he should be fined, or fired if it goes on too long/multiple games.

I believe you mean Mike Tyson's Punch Out. and yes, i did beat him, but only by tko. that dude was hard to knock out.

Yes.
I am picking up a theme with this poster.

Everything annoys him way more than it should.

Or everything should be perfect like it would be if things were just like him.

Small mistakes (and I am guessing that particular play had a rule attached to it) are not really worthy of this much angst my man. Even if indeed they challenged the spot and found out it was off by a foot but still not a first down, "losing" the challenge because it was not a first down but was off by a wee bit is hardly the tuck rule.

Save it for the important things.

Denver had three occasions where it seemed like they got the first down and they turned into 3rd and 1. Buck made a comment about one of them.

Think instant replay reviews has become a crutch with officials. They do not put in the effort to get it right because they know they can rely on replay to get it correct.

Nothing keeping any sport from having a dedicated replay official in the booth to look at all plays as they happen who has power to and hit a button when they feel there was a mistake. This can be done without having long delays associated with the current format.
