Many players in the game are superstars at the highest level but not all were among the most coveted coming out of high school.

Andre Caldwell is the only player on the Broncos roster to have been ranked a five-star by Rivals.com

Every given year there are ~9000 scholarship FBS football players. Factored for rate of attrition and graduation every year there are roughly 2750 incoming freshmen. Given that there are only on average 40 5* recruits and 300 4* recruits for every year, those rates seem right about on par with what I would think. There are a lot more 3* and 2* players in every given year than 4* and 5* players.

Yeah considering there are thousands more 2 and 3 stars in every recruiting class it's not surprising. Percentage wise it's a no brainier. You are much more likely to make the NFL as a 5 star than a 2 or 3 star.

The unsourced cited data seems pretty shallow to me to be drawing many conclusions.

I just did 75 players ×120 FBS teams (9000 players) and 23 commits × 120 FBS team (2750 recruits). Nothing scientific about it, and probably off by a slight bit, but just wanted to get a relative framework was all.
