JUst want to see who you guys think.
Does Shaun Alexander count?
no.
Just while in H.S. I would say Richard Hall.

A name that didn't get much buzz, (especially considering he is the states all time leading rusher) but as a High School player what Jason Bainum did at Williamsburg was just incredible. He just bounced off of anyone that was near him. I only saw him play a couple of times, but it was amazing when you realize he was going to just take the snap and run 50-60 times a game, all 11 on the D knew it, but it didn't matter. I don't think that school has won a game since he graduated.
Since Alexander does not count I think I have to go with Deshaun Wynn. There have been some damn good players around but that is who I'll pick. Richard Hall is a great one too.
Do any of you remember bryan cupito?

The QB at Minnesota from McNick? If this is who I'm thinking of he is a damn good player.
yep thats him
Marc Edwards wasn't too shabby back in the day.

Neither was Carlos Snow or Ahmed Plummer.
edit: nm...all 3 players I mentioned I believe were more then 10 years ago.
Out of Cincinnati itself, the picking while good are not great. That said, i think Ahmd Plummer from Wyoming and Ohio State was a helluva player. I also will cast another vote for DeShawn Wynn from Lockland/Reading.
deshawn wynn or richard hall
Richard Hall was much more impressive in high school than DeShawn Wynn. I think Hall was the best I've seen in the last 10 years...

The three best I have ever seen were Daryl Hardy (1986 Princeton LB),Johnny Mattress (1987 Princeton QB) and Ron Brown (1991 - Middletown). Mattress and Brown both signed with Ohio State and both ended up getting arrested and are probably still in the state pen...Neither ever played a down of college football.

A very good football player, but very much overrated considering the league they play in. His senior season I remember going to a lot of burg' games to watch him. Since he's graduated, they haven't won in hardly any sport. Also since you brought him up, say a little prayer or something for him and his family--his mother was recently killed in a car crash I believe.
It was Bainum's dad who was killed recently, I believe he was a mailman.

In regards to Jason, I was a student at Williamsburg's arch rival Batavia during his tenure in high school and was able to see him play several times. For those who don't know, their offense basically consisted of 10 blockers and Bainum running the ball from the QB position. He didn't have an arm, and like the earlier poster noted, a large reason he bounced off so many tacklers was the low level of competition. I'm pretty sure he had an understated college career at D3 Capital University in Columbus.

On that note, my nod would go to Cupito from McNick.

Johnny Mattress was also a hell of a baseball player. He is about my age and I played against him every year in Knothole ball. He currently plays on one of the top softball teams in the city, Graystone Mortage. Keith Legree also played for them.

I'm 35, and I believe hands down that Carlos Snow was the best HS football player I ever seen. Vinnie Clark wasn't too bad either, but Carlos got more pub. I believe when he came out of HS, Snow and Emmitt Smith were rated 1 and 2 as the top prospects in the nation. Of course I may be a little biased for him also because I attended C.A.P.E the years he led them to back to back state titles. ;-)

I followed Marc Edwards closely too. He wasn't really that skilled. In HS he was just bigger than everyone else and he just mowed people over.

um Cincinnati does not mean Kentucky.....
I think Richard Hall is the best player I have seen in many years..

By the way.. Shaun Alexanders 3000 something yards in his high school career is nothing compared to that of Richard Hall's 7500 or so.. Alexander had something liek 55 TD's in his career.. Hall had 121..

The only other player who was that amazing was Tyrell Sutton.. how recently finished his career with almost 9500 rushing yards.. if you look at that he averaged almost 195 yards per game he played.. that is just amazing.. with 117 TD's scored..

He is in Ohio.. but not in the Cincy area..

Those are the two I would pick as best in the .ast 10 years..
Mister Simpson
Gino
Jared Lorenzon
Shaun Alexander
Wynn

What ended up happening to Mister Simpson? Last I'd heard he had gotten kicked out of Michigan for steroid use....is he playing any college ball or did he hang em up?
