Fair enough. But, all kidding aside, it is truly amazing that UAF can't win with their facilities, tradition, fan support, finances, etc. If we had 18,000 fans cheering us on, do you think we would ever lose a home game?. If we had 5600 fans raising the roof at Stephens, do you think Troy would have come in here and beat us? I really doubt it. If we took charter flights to our road games, instead of 10 hour bus rides to Mobile, it would make playing on the road a little easier as well.

The better comparison maybe steve's peers in the sbc.

I am proud of steve winning.

At the end of the year if he has out coached his peers he'll get called up.

I am sure of it. If he out coaches his peers someone will pay him more in a better conference with a program that fits him and his style of play.

Unless he's asked to take over for Coach K at Duke, I don't see him leaving Little Rock. I think Steve is the kind of person who has made a home here and really likes living in Little Rock. I would bet that he's had some offers in the past, but declined them. Maybe not at a premier school, but maybe an upgrade from UALR. But the money difference probably wasn't enough to make him want to leave. Plus his wife has a job here in the area, and I've been told the reason Coach Foley won't leave is that his wife won't leave Arkansas. So everyone isn't motivated by money, if they have enough to be comfortable and are happy in what they're doing. As MJS has said, when you lump everything together, I think we're pretty darn lucky to have Steve and Chris.

Would change be good for the program? Any change always creates new interest. But it wouldn't guarantee that we'd be better. I'd love for Steve to have a chance to coach at a really good program both for him and for our program. A fresh start rejuvenates coaches and programs. But for now, I'm happy with where we are this year, and hope we continue to play hard and win games.04-cheers

In most cases a coaching change initially sets a program back for a year or two. Yes, I know there are plenty of exceptions. Porter replacing Sidney is an example, but maybe not a good one. Players knew and probably liked him and none left. Usually a coaching change leads to a change in style and in some players leaving. That leads to an initial downtrend. Doesn't have to happen, but often does. Not a reason not to make a change, but anyone expecting a dramatic improvement the first year will likely be disappointed. Who knows what the rest of the season will bring, but it looks like we will have a good enough conference season that the haters will be disappointed.

A lot depends on the health of Will and James the rest of the season. I can't believe both have suffered injuries that could have a devastating impract on the rest of our season. But let's hope not. I'm proud of the way there is no quit in our team, and much of that comes from the coaches. For better or worse, Steve's teams never quit.04-cheers

That is one thing to remember. He gets his guys to play hard. I'm sure that this fact is a major selling point for any program that looks at him. I don't know if Steve has any aspirations to coach at a higher level. He will get calls if he can get UALR back to postseason.
