'Back to the drawing board' for UAB after stunning home loss to East Carolina

You got a first year player talking about guys not giving effort when there are five experienced seniors on the team. Blame it on Haase, blame it on the Davis guys, Frazier, whoever. Fact is something has changed with the character of this team since November. It's not just about poor shooting. The chemistry of this group has turned poor. Maybe the last of the Davis guys moving on will solve it. I really hope so.

The CUSA is better than expected. Until we recruit at a really highly level and HCJH gets some experience, we're going to be in the same boat we were in. Now is the time to support and be patient.
Chad Frazier really played some hard nosed defense late in the game. The other side of that is that I guess I noticed it because I don't normally see that from him.
The not giving effort line was just repeating what Haase had said.

Has anyone noticed a drop off in Faz's play since the nose break. I was afraid that would happen.
Yeah but he's also sans-mask, which is interesting.

I really liked what we did to break down the zone in the last 10 minutes of the game...getting the ball to Ruck at the free throw line and letting him drive and dish. It really worked well. Foz was limited today more due to matchups...the big man for ECU was not a huge scoring threat and didn't need a big body on him...but he got some offensive rebounds today that were particularly inexcusable, including one late in the game that led to a huge three by Richmond.

He really did. I thought all the guys were playing their hearts out on defense the last 10 minutes or so. Just a little too late.
#34 for ECU set more illegal screens than I could count. I don't understand why it wasn't called. Officials completely ignored their off ball screens
I think like most fans, the players thought this was a game we should win. However, they tend to forget what it takes. 40 minutes of playing hard. Teams like USM & La Tech are on you from the tipoff.

Faz went 12 pts and 7 Rebs against North Texas, 5 and 7 against Tulsa, 8 and 6 against ODU, and 4 and 4 against ECU.
Maybe it's Preston's lack of playing time. I didn't make any of the games of this past week because of the circumstances that befell me during the ice storm. Did Preston play in any of the previous two games at Bartow?
I just realized we were better in year 2 of davis than we are in year 2 of Haase. #yuck
True, but Anderson left a team that made an NCAA appearance. Davis left a team with a losing record.
This team won't get an NIT bid unless UAB wins a couple of games in the CUSA tournament.

If not, time to regroup and put this season behind us.
They need to throw the old drawing board away . Just in case it has any of the bad ideas still trapped in it.
I think it was metaphorical
Maybe the drawing board should start. It can't be any worse at fighting through a screen to get to an open shooter than our current guards
Haase should throw the drawing at opposing shooters as they're about to take open threes.
Just let coach coach.

Anderson also knew what he had coming back and got out while the gettin' was good.

We won a ton of games under Davis, just never THE game. He was never good at team-building either. We never knew who was going to be on the team from year-to-year, sometimes semester-to-semester. His weaknesses were more subtle. I always thought that Mike Davis could be the best assistant coach in the country, but he didn't have what it takes to be a head coach.
