Rice leading 26-24.

Kuster 9 points away from the all-time scoring record.

Side note: I saw and met Gumbs in College Station on Sunday for the Tennessee vs A&M game. She was wearing a Tennessee shirt.
2H, 15:56, 32-32.
38-38. Kuster 5 points from record.
10:48 Tulane leading 43-40. Kuster 3 away from breaking a 32 year old record.
Tulane pulling away 56-45.
With a 3-pointer from top of key with 3:21 remaining Jessica Kuster is now Rice's all-time leading scorer!
Rice down by 8 with 1:10 left in the game.
Tulane won. Kuster didn't really have a very good game. But she had a better game than the Rice student section as there was not a single student in that section - which is especially sad considering the setting.

There were a few at one point, but they all went over and sat in the chairbacks. Can't really blame them for that.

[/quote A bittersweet night. A very deserving and classy young lady breaks a school record...but there is no support from the kids at the school! In addition, we fought hard but lost to a good team. Jessica is a true student-athlete and a team player. She is our only senior and will be missed in the future for more than her stats. I really have enjoyed watching her play these past 4 years and wish her the best. I hope we can finish strong and get some wins in these next few weeks, as the schedule brightens up after Middle Tenn. Rice fight never dies!

Wow! That's very sad! No vociferous delegation from her college? No loud, cheering groups of male and female Rice athletes? Was there no marketing at all ... that such a momentous record was about to be claimed ... AT HOME, ferchrissake! Or total ennui and disinterest on the part of the students? Rice & Houston communities? So very sad.
Well some of the student athletes were in other sections. And perhaps there were some there earlier in the game but there were definitely none in the 2nd half. Again I just think that's such a sad statement when Jessica is on the verge of setting a significant record.

BTW, Tulane had a ton of people there (they had a freshman from Houston) and their fans were very loud. Trevor Cobb was sitting in that section but with a Rice sweatshirt on. I said hi to him after the game and he mentioned his cousin was there to watch the Tulane team (but she told me she was a Rice football fan).
You would be hard-pressed to find a student body at a D-1 school which is more indifferent to college sports, than the Rice student body. Maybe they are too busy finding a cure for cancer or the next break-through in nano-technology (neither of which is a bad thing), but they sure do not find the time to meander over to the gym and support their school-mates.
I was curious does Williams get out or any of the Couching staff in any sport pro active of getting students to come to the game? Looks like another mediocre season.

Congratulations to her, what a landmark event! She is probably the best all around player to ever play women's basketball at Rice. Having said that, boy she shoots alot! And misses alot. What is her overall shooting percentage? I see many 2-15, 6-25 kind of nights from her. She certainly does have the green light, but then I suppose thats how you set scoring records. Certainly she will set other records for shots taken and shots missed as well.
The rebounding is impressive though.
