Before the USM game I predicted an 18-win season and projected the wins and losses for the rest of the season. So far, so good. I was right on the loss to USM and the win over Tulane at home. Now it's on the road for UAB and MidTen.

My formula for the 18 wins includes a loss to UAB and a win over MidTen. Both games will be tough, but it is not inconceivable for ODU to win both. This is a key week for finding out just how good this team might be in the process of becoming. A split on the road against these two teams would be a good thing. It would be nice to get a head start on Thursday against UAB.

UAB is a team starting three seniors and two juniors. They are an experienced team led by 6'4" guard Chad Frasier (17.5 ppg), and they beat NC earlier in the season. They are 2-2 in conference play with a two-point loss to UTEP and an OT road loss to MidTen. They are at the top of the conference in rebounding and make 70% of their free thows. This is a very good team and will be tough to beat in their house.
Toughest stretch of the season. Wait until you guys see Shawn Jones of MTSU.

A split would be ideal.
Don't forget about UAB's 6'10" 250 lbs. center that scores 10 pts. a game. He will be a load. I have aways thought ODU has had trouble with UAB. Hopefully not this time.
MT is very inconsistent. If you guys have bad guards we will win. If you guys can't compete with Jones we will win. Otherwise, do that and you'll have success.

It's at home for us, which is a definite plus as we do have a relatively good home-court advantage and students will be showing up more and more for these games.
0-2 here is a distinct possibility and nothing to hang our heads about. A split would be a big step in my opinion.
We're lining up against two very capable opponents, but I think we can split it if our shots fall. But if we're clearly outclassed, I'll be looking for general improvement anyway. Free throws, rebounds, shot %, anything we can get.
Highlights from a previous UAB-ODU game in Norfolk. This is a team, through the years, that has given us trouble.

The uab game will be postponed.

We could be looking at 10 inches of snow Tuesday night into wed.

Highly doubt the game will be played after that.
The UAB game is on the 30th, not the 29th.
It will still be cutting it close.
AND.......it's in Alabama

The way the forecast is looking Birmingham may get more snow than we do.
I see 1 inch of snow forecasted for Birmingham tomorrow. Pretty sure the game will be played.
Snowfall forecast in Alabama seems mediocre
I say we split this road trip and finish 6-5.

I swear every time ODU has traveled to UAB, they have gotten absolutely destroyed.....those were the Mike Anderson coached teams I think but I'm still going to count this as a loss....MTSU is a toss up..
