Right now ODU is 63 on the curve and the top 16-seed. They'd match up with Villanova, the lowest of the 1-seeds.
Hello March Madness, my old friend. It has been a long time.

I don't think we'll make it to this year's NCAAT (or hell, even next year's) but damn does it feel good to show up on in someone's bracketology talk again.
NCAA tournament is a fantasy for this year, but give Coach Jones and team credit for getting the program moving in the right direction. With Trey Freeman, Deion Clark and hopefully a JUCO PF and C, next year could be the year to think about tournaments. Some respectable stats from NCAA website are as follows: ODU is 47th in the country in Scoring Defense and Richard Ross is number 30 in the country in block shots per game. (Don't ask about team FT %, although there seems to be some improvement there.)

I'm not denying the progress, just exhibiting a degree of cautious optimism. Like you said, we're a few solid JuCo players away from being NCAAT-capable and certainly an annual contender for the CUSA regular-season and tournament championships. We're moving in the right direction, certainly.
Doesn't the regular season champion get an automatic NIT bid?

I think we are good at power forward for next year with Ross and Taylor. We need a couple juco/5th year transfer centers.
I think a run on the CIT or CBI would be a wonderful reward for this team, kind of like the CIT run we had in Adams' senior year.

Set the table for the following years, and was a great team bonding experience.

Who knows, if we can steal a couple at home and contend for a double bye then get hot... I am not interested, however in playing a play in game as a 16 seed for the right to get blown out by Syracuse. I'd rather USM or La Tech get in as a 12. Would be better for the conference in the long run.

When does the AP Top 25 come out? Are we in "others receiving votes" yet?

That's crazy talk. I'll gladly take a tournament berth, even if we are the 16 seed. I'm not too proud to get blown out by a great team this season because every little bit helps on the recruiting front.
I'm hoping for a CIT bid this year as well. If they can get the win total high enough for a bid, they will have earned it.

Not all of the play-in games are 16th seed, i.e. VCUs final four run
If we finished top 4 and win the Tournament we would not be a 16 seed. Would be minimum a 15.

True, but the 16 seed game is the only play-in one we have a chance of being in. The other play-in games are for at large teams (last 4 in) and we could run the table to the CUSA championship game and still wouldn't have the resume.
A smart young lady never turns down an invite to the big dance!
Bracket Matrix was updated today. ODU is appearing in 16 brackets and as high as a 13 seed in the Sporting News.
It's fun to speculate, as long as nobody jumps off a bridge if the bottom falls out, a very distinct possibility.I love these kids, but come on, if they make post season play JJ will be national coach of the year.
Acting like this team is the bad news bears is ridiculous. We have talent, it's young and we are lacking a center. But the talent we do have is not at the incredibly low level that some of you insist it is. Everybody needs to let last year go. It is not an adequate barometer for where we are, or where we can expect to be. In case you forgot we had a coaching melt down last year and the record reflects that far more than the talent of our players.
