I hope there are several articles written about Ward this week. I figured I'd start a thread on the subject with this one I found this morning. It ranks the best prospects at the Senior Bowl.

Quote:12. S Jimmie Ward, NIU - I know Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Calvin Pryor, and Lamarcus Joyner draw most of the attention among safeties, but Ward is a legitimate prospect. He flashes range in the deep half while displaying aggressiveness when lining up close to the box. Ward was asked to play some man against tight ends and receivers while at NIU and did very well. I was a big fan of Johnathan Cyprien prior to the Senior Bowl last year, and Ward is the top safety attending this week.
Let's hope he looks better than lynch did this past weekend

That won't be hard.
Another one:

Quote:S Jimmie Ward, Northern Illinois: ESPN ranks Ward as the No. 6 safety in the draft, but he was one of the best defensive playmakers in the Mid-American Conference, leading the Huskies with 95 tackles and seven interceptions this year. Last year, Florida International safety John Cyprien impressed in the Senior Bowl enough to be the first pick in the second round (Jacksonville), and Ward could be the small-school player to mirror that rise.

A couple more.

Mocking the draft has him as the #3 safety in the draft. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2...immie-ward

I heard ESPN has him at #6, most publications have in the top 5 of safeties and going in the 3rd round.

He's getting a lot of comparison to Cyprien who went #1 in the 2nd round.
This is all great. I'm happy for him to be getting this buzz. With a good performance this week, 2nd round seems highly feasible. I certainly would love to have him on my team.
I would love to see the colts grab him if they choose to not bring back Bethea or to groom him behind Bethea and Landry

Ward is just over 5 foot 10 and weighs 191. Probably not the best measurements. But I saw multiple tweets on how he will probably be a fast riser this week and how of the defensive backs he was asked to do more than most.

I'd say outside of Lamarcus Joyner, Jimmie has had to play the most spots and roles of any secondary player this year.

#NIU SAF Jimmie Ward was the most fluid, quick-twitch DB on the North Squad. Moves like a cornerback. Playing deep third today

Daniel Jeremiah ‏@MoveTheSticks 8m

Big fan of Northern Illinois safety Jimmie Ward. Lacks ideal size but he's very instinctive and he has the fluidity to cover the slot.

Brandon Holstein ‏@BHolsteinNFLDM3 18h

Expanding on S Jimmie Ward. Rangy athlete with excellent discipline to keep the play in front. Solid tackler with exceptional ball skills.

Dion Caputi ‏@nfldraftupdate 2h

An under the radar North roster player I'll be watching is NIU S Jimmie Ward. Nice versatility. Has a lot of responsibility in his secondary

Luke Inman ‏@Luke_Spinman 6h

Other winners worth noting during weigh ins: Aaron Donald DT Pitt. Jimmie Ward S N.Illinois D.Buchannon CB Wash St. Cyril Richardson Baylor

Ben Babins ‏@BenBabins 4h

My pick for @seniorbowl standout is Safety from NIU Jimmie Ward. Think the kid is going to be special. @MoveTheSticks @BuckyBrooks
jerryjones@jocksandsocks
I like this Ward kid....Cowboys need another NIU stud
“The buzz the past two seasons was about Jordan Lynch but if you came to watch a game you saw the defense and you wondered what they have on defense,” Ward said. “Well, you saw a guy stand out. That is what really got me on the map. Shout out to Jordan Lynch. He is my guy. Everyone has a different route.”

they did a nice little segment on Jimmie tonight on the daily Senior Bowl recap show on NFL Network. Daniel Jeremiah, the former scout had a lot of positive things to say about Ward and expects him to get his hands on a lot of balls this week and make plays
If Ward was 2" taller he would be a first rounder. He is definitely showing that he can cover the slot which is like the 12th starter on defense.

THE LEGEND GROWS. RT @NEPD_Loyko: Jimmie Ward chant going on at the senior bowl. Has a section of 100 people here cheering him on

Mobile's Jimmie Ward via @NIUAthletics is being termed by some #NFL scouts as their "sleeper". Aggressive, can cover and has ball skills.
How cool for him to be in the Senior Bowl...like a "home" game for him.

I'll never forget his interception at Iowa and how he ran off the field waving his one "wrapped paw".

Jimmie "Freakin'" Ward! 04-bow04-bow04-bow
There is a small article on him on the back page of today's Tribune.

Last 2 plays Jimmie Ward took the hit from Fiedorowicz then stepped in front of him for a pick. Then jams Abberderis 3 yards out of bounds
