It always comes down to racism. It can never just be that the guy is a terrible president or has a ridiculously inflated view of himself.

President Barack Obama said that racial tensions may have softened his popularity among white voters within the last two years, according to a story posted on the New Yorkermagazine’s website today.

“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.

“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.

Obama’s second term has been marked by controversies including a partial government shutdown in October, revelations that the National Security Agency has gathered personal mobile phone data and the troubled rollout of health-insurance expansion.

Obama’s approval rating among all voters is 39 percent and his disapproval rating is 53 percent, according to a Gallup Poll conducted Jan. 14-16. In the 2012 presidential election, Republican candidate Mitt Romney won 59 percent of the white vote, compared with Obama’s 39 percent, according to exit polling by a consortium of major news outlets. Obama won 43 percent of the white vote in 2008 against 55 percent for opponent John McCain, a Republican senator from Arizona.

And our media will never let it die down to the point of manufacturing racism even when there is none - them and the professional race baiters.

It's interesting, but I observe different races interact every day and virtually never see this racism that the media keeps pounding. For all we know, and I'd bet, that whoever was doing the interview purposely pushed the race angle during this interview.
I'd normally jump on any comment concerning race and the President, but the OP stretches what Obama said. I actually agree with his comments and think race works both ways on people's impression of him; however, I'd argue the EXTENT of each side of the coin is nowhere near equitable, fueled by the MSM, black voting block loyalty, and "white guilt".
His approval is at an all-time low.

Does that mean his presidency has increased racism in the country?
I also dislike his white whore half.
I'm sorry, but I'm blacker than Obama. Sure, he actually has black DNA in him, but was raised amongst lily whites at a private school in Hawaii, then went to a bunch of private 98% white colleges. I at least grew up going to majority black schools, live next door to blacks, etc.

Sure, he has the DNA, but I guarantee you I can relate better to blacks than he can.

I was thinking the same thing. He doesn't even know what it means to be an African American, unless he learned it by listening to his wife...
wasn't he black when he was elected?

I think he'd still probably school you on the courts and dance floor, so he's got that going for him.
He still seems eat up with it.
Wait, I thought he was the post-racial president. Guess Zero failed at that too.
That's a big part of what we hear every day since he got elected and even before.

Yeah but white America just discovered he identifies as black. After 5 years.

It couldn't be that his word is less trustworthy than a slimy used car salesman and we can now see it clearly. (Not trying to abuse salesmen here).

I think his socialist/communist views have a lot more to do with it than his skin color.

Yes, I said socialist/communist, and that's what I meant. I love the argument that this used to draw, "If he were a socialist then Obamacare would have included a public option (or single-payer)." That's exactly what HE wanted. He couldn't get it because he didn't have the votes. So if that's the standard, then yes, he is at least a socialist. And when you consider that virtually every significant influence in his whole life--parents, grandparents, Frank Marshall Davis, the Marxist professors that he thought were "cool" at university, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, you name it--has/had definite socialist and/or communist lean, you get there. He is also not a Muslim. He is a liberation theology Christian--and liberation theology is best described as the Communist Party at prayer. You may disagree with my characterization, but you cannot reasonably argue that there is not ample support for my position.
Socialism isn't inherently bad, just like Capitalism or Conservatism.
