If Coach K had been on our bench tonight, it wouldn't have mattered. Ga State was in a zone. I doubt they've played like that all year. We didn't play badly. We played about our normal winning game scoring 73 points.
But when a team hits 15 threes on us, it's usually bad news. We don't take enough threes to come anywhere near matching them. I have said this for years and I'll say it again. Our three point defense has never been good.
We just look good when the opponents don't have great three point shooters. It's like playing good free throw defense. We don't have much to do with it. Troy destroyed us with threes and so did Ga State. Western has killed us in years past with good three point shooting. When Steve and Bobby Vint realize the game has changed through the years, and the three point shot is vital to winning, maybe we'll see some offensive changes and different recruiting priorities. Until then, nothing will change.
