NIU get's $150,000 of free gear from adidas but no money. At least we get the most free gear in the MAC other than UMASS.

I feel that is a fair number even with the recent success. Maybe if Frazier could get us on Comcast Sportsnet we could get more money from Adidas.

Surprisingly Michigan gets the most to wear Adidas, 3.8 million a year and 2.2 million worth of gear.

Are you guys happy about NIU's deal with Adidas?

Personally, not a big fan of Adidas. Apparel design is far behind Nike but working in the sports apparel business that probably bothers me more than most.

Last week, notre dame switched to Under Armour from adidas. Goes into effect in the summer or fall I believe.
Based on the other teams take, and out performance and TV time over the last few years, I think we should get 100k thank you for putting the brand out there on a winning squad...
What sucks is that people that want to buy NIU gear will rarely find any.
ADIDAS is an 80s brand and those days are long gone, I would prefer a company that stayed with the times and someone that would want to flood the market with products for people like Nike or Under Armour.

That's not an Adidas thing. That's a retailer thing. Remember, NIU's "official" retailer is an on-campus bookstore with little e-commerce exposure. Athletic Departments & campus bookstores don't know how to properly run ecommerce shops. That's why 90% of the schools - big and small - hand it over to a company like the one I work for.
Personally, I think they should stick with adidas.

Nike has a majority of the NCAA market and NIU isn't going to get anything special out of them. Under Armour is a rising brand, but I don't like any of their college uniforms.

If NIU can continue to win, I think they can be the poster child of the smaller schools for Adidas. I'm also not sure that they're that behind in design, because I buy NIU adidas stuff because that's what the teams wear, and most of it is pretty clean cut and not too flashy.

Also they are far from an 80s brand, they hold a huge market in soccer which makes more money than any of us realize.

Except for their prominent logo on everything. Sometimes I'm wondering if I'm showing my NIU allegiance or advertising Addidas. I stay away from Addidas as much as I can.
No way, I have lots of adidas T-shirts, pullovers, and even polos.

Most of the time, it's in a good spot for the logo. It's larger than a nike logo, but I don't think it interferes with NIU's logo

Toledo is not listed. In fact UT was the first MAC school to switch from Addidas to Under Armoure and still the only MAC school with Under Armoure. Just a few months ago our athletic director Mike O"Brien announced that Toledo re-upped with Under Armoure for a better deal. That being said, I am making an assumption that we must have gotten a better deal if we left Addidas and have since negotiated an even better one. I will try to find out details.

I don't think Toledo had adidas. At least not for football, they wore Russell if I remember correctly.

I don't know what they wore for other sports, but I know Ohio still wears Russell and that's for most sports.
Is Puma a football supplier?

I know what you are saying. I never see any Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin or Notre Dame merchandise in the area.

Adidas is a soccer market first and foremost. American football isn't their target. Both Nike and Under Armour have founders from major (or one time major) football schools. Hence they know what it takes to get the exposure.

And remember kids, it could always be worse, Russell Athletic supplies a number of college programs, now thats a TRUE 80s brand.

I think the whole uniform craze will pop itself in due time. One of these dimwitted QBs is going to throw a pass to a defender because he will forget they are wearing blue and teal this week not blue and white this week or Maryland is going to come out in literal clown suits and be laughed off the field.

They've been making a strong push towards going into basketball in the past 8 or so years.

+1. Could ultimately lead to more money for us. Although I thought we would have a little more than $150,000. Hopefully with Frazier in-charge we will see something around 200-250k.
If I read correctly Compher just resigned the deal...1 month BEFORE our Orange Bowl invite last year...03-banghead
Thanks for sharing OP...this is interesting when you see the disparity between big schools. Clemson looks like they are getting a horrible deal considering the fanbase they have and the success of their program. I am sure this is related to how marketable they are beyond the borders of South Carolina.

I know I have spent my fair share on FSU products, a lot recently, but I always buy the official stuff so Nike gets my money.
