I don't think Niblett was on Drew's original list (could be wrong).......I don't doubt he would do a good job here, but I don't think Mackin would go the High School route. I don't think Houston Nutt gets interviewed either.

Probably right. Mackin pulled a fast one on the BOT last time by floating out names we were never interested in and then had Bobby Petrino release a congrats to McGee so that it became public knowledge. Mackin was tight lipped on the bball search so much so that we didn't even know who the candidates were.
It'll be interesting for sure.

He has very strong recruiting ties to South Florida.........has been with Tuberville (off and on) for YEARS.

If these are our candidates at all. One thing I hate and love about our search is that no real information leaks out until the deal is done.
We had a lot of the same candidates last time, it's just that the final 4 or 5 that we interviewed sucked.

No doubt......last time it was Paul Petrino, McGee, Curter Luper, Steed Lobotzke and Turner Gill. You would have a hard time finding a .500% coach in the whole group (Gill probably being the closest).
Clark & Roberts were interviewed at the coaches conference, if I had to guess.
Not sure if John Neal was there or who else may have been there.
I would be surprised if you saw someone like Nutt in the mix.
Out of Clark, Roberts, & Gran, I would choose the coach who has ties to the state & had 100 people call him inquiring about the UAB job for a spot. That would seem to mean he has a lot of connections.
The thing is that some of those names are probably sourced right here, and we all know that Blazertalk is the place to come for accurate, informed information on the coaching search.
