The only way I see the first game being useful is if it means we continue a basketball series with them.

Or for our guys to play a full game against people who don't know the play book without worrying about being massacred. A gel game if you will.

Btw no official dates but 2015 looks like home: VT, USC... Away: WVU. Hoping for a seventh home game against anyone who will take the one and done.
scheduling nccu has nothing to do with bball lol

if that was the case we would get series in bball with uva, vt, usc, and more games against unc and state
Wish we didn't play South Carolina like to change that for Appalachian State. I would like to play two tough non conference games and two some what easy non conference games each year. We will never have an undefeated or even one loss season playing the schedules we do. We are not in a BCS conference. Yet some of our fans expect us to beat three or four BCS teams a year. And yes I know there is no more BCS so powerful 5 conference as they call it now.
Agree with you. The game has changed and I think more than two strong P5 schools in your OCS is too much. Even if you have a good team and leave that schedule 3-1 you are probably so beat up that you will slip in conference play and knock yourself out of contention for the G5 champ bowl.
If you want to be like the big boys (50,000 strong) you got play & beat them. You'll be playing a soft AAC schedule so you have to make up for that.

The AAC schedule is not as soft as you think. You guys were undefeated this year but were very close to losing quite a few of them, fortune doesn't smile at anyone that often many years in a row. I'm not saying don't play the big boys but be smart about it. You could play P5 middle of the road schools and beat them and maybe one big time P5 which will be tough to beat.

I like our OCS schedule for next year because even though we might not be at the level to win most of them, we have a good chance in most. That's the kind of OCS schedule I like to see USF continue

Western Carolina at home 1AA. We should win.
Maryland. At home Big Ten school that is beatable
NC State. At home ACC school that is beatable
Wisconsin. Away. Top Big Ten school that will be hard to beat
No problem with that schedule. Hopefully UNC will be a night game.
Yeah, its a fun schedule, but I wish ECU backed off that a bit. I'd rather see two P5 opponents, and two G5 opponents. In fact, one strategy I'd like to see the AAC utilize is scheduling games against Boise, NIU, and Fresno. Take matters into our own hands so to speak. If we can lay a loss on the big threats from other G5 conferences we don't have to worry about losing the G5 slot to an undefeated school from another conference. Plus having one of our teams beat the major threats from other conferences also sets the AAC up as the stronger G5 conference should threats arise from an odd duck we didnt play within another G5 conference.

It helps keep the wheels with NCCU oiled up. "Hey we gave you a game in football so let's get a long term deal in basketball signed."

I believe WKU did that with someone...

I like the schedule. If you went 8-0 and 7-1 in the AAC and won 3/4 OOC like you did this year, ECU would probably be ranked at 10-2/11-1.

What we want to avoid is a 1-3 OOC team winning the AAC. We will not get the access bowl in that situation. My dream OOC for UCF would be something along the lines of Boston College, Kansas, Minnesota, FIU. It would certainly be possible for ECU/UCF/Cincy/Houston to go 3-0 against those BCS teams. That with a 7-1/8-0 AAC run would give you a nicely ranked team.

Disagree completely. We really need that game to tune things up. The next 3 in a row are brutal and the conference schedule will be harder than last seasons version of coosa.

That's b/c we have a lot of fans that don't show strictly to watch ECU. They just don't get it and never will.
USC is an elite team in the p5 but I dot really think right now that unc or vt are. It's a competitive schedule but I don't see it as to much to handle especially with the tune up game vs nccu to start it off.

I would like to see one FCS school (Bethune or FAMU), one SEC school, one ACC/B12/BIG school, and then one MWC school or F_U.
One FCS, one G5, one low tier P5, one solid P5.

I'm not saying that we'll win the conference, but...

-UNC will be very good next year. Top 20 good.
-South Carolina will be very good next year. Top 10 good.
-VPI will be good, as always. They will definitely be a top 35 team.

It is very possible that by game 5 we will be 1-3. I predict that we will be 2-2 at best.

All 3 will have relatively new QBs
