This guy should be on Mackin's short list for sure. Started South Fla from scratch. Perfect candidate.
I don't know if we could afford him nor the baggage he has but I'd accept him as capable of doing the job.

Seems like more coaches than not, have some sort of baggage these days.
I was pulling for Leavitt when we "hired" Callaway. He started USF coaching out of house trailers. He's grounded and tough nosed. At least that's how I remember him. He undoubtedly brought passion to the sideline. I remember being jealous that USF had him and we didn't. I know USF declined when he was let go. Maybe that has something to do with his baggage? What is his baggage?
Was reported he hit a walkon. You don't hit walkons. They have the rich parents.

That's it? Bring him on and only keep walk ons that can elude him. Like I said...he brought passion to the sideline.

He then told coaches and players to lie about it

We need self preservation qualities as well.
Mike Leach "allegedly" locked some kid in a closet for awhile, and Washington State got over it. It worked out well.

After learning more about that kid and his dad, I might have locked him in the closet too.
I think Leavitt or Cristobal would bring real toughness to the team...
Is he available or back at KState or elsewhere?

49ers linebackers coach
Can he leave them early w/ them being in the playoffs? Can we even talk to him?

He'll be free by late Sunday afternoon...
Y'all really think someone would leave the 49ers (position coach but still) to come coach UAB football? Serious question.

Why?

Why?

It's a college head coaching gig. There are only 125 of them.
I get that but he's already coaching in the NFL on a top 5 team, in one of the nicest cities/areas in the country. Not saying it's impossible he'd come to Bham but I just don't think the math adds up. And I don't necessarily mean financially.
Keith Burns of the Raiders was one of our finalists for DC (Before all hell broke loose) and he is coaching in the NFL. If a position coach in the NFL was willing to leave for a College gig as a coordinator I assume one would leave for a head coach.
That's certainly promising.
