Kemy had better be ready.

Unbelievable. Just what we needed for tonight. Sounds like this was done well above Steve's head with our AD and the Conference commissioner making statements.

Just went from a game I thought we had a good chance of winning to one I would consider an upset if we win. Josh is by far the best we have when it comes to creating and getting his own shot.
It would be nice to know what he did, but knowing the UALR policy on secrecy, I doubt that we'll ever know for sure, unless there is a mole in the athletic department out there. I have always supported any coaches' decision to suspend or even dismiss a player for whatever reason they felt necessary. I don't know of a coach that would dismiss or suspend a player that hasn't done something deserving of the action. The problem is that many coaches are too lenient on the breaking of team rules.

Just curious though. Have any of our athletic administrators or coaches been disciplined for any of their actions while representing UALR? Just asking.
Shields has been suspended before.
From the tone of the announcement, it sounded like he must have done something that was considered unsportsmanlike after the game. Maybe taunting? Just a guess. Probably one of those "if you don't suspend him, we will" situations.

He wouldn't have done anything that bad. Peterson is quoted as saying he's a good boy. And I don't doubt that he probably is, but he did something. Tell us what it was and we won't have to speculate.
Told you guys. They'll find a way to break your heart.

What in the world could he have done that would warrant a suspension?
Here we go again. Zack Wright, Nick Zachary, Stevie Moore, Chuck Guy.
Do those names ring a bell? Scotto might have hit the nail on the head.
Just think of who our best players are and one or more will be gone next year to make room for our new ones. Unless Josh did something really terrible, wouldn't some sort of in house punishment be more appropriate.
Once again, nobody is thinking of the fans. We pay money and a lot of it to see our best players on the floor. When you make an arbitrary decision
to bench one of our best players, you not only punish the kid, but the fans. I would think that if it was that serious he'd be suspended for more than one game. You know during the Revolutionary War, I think it was, you could assign someone else to take your place instead of going off to fight yourself. That could work here. Josh should be able to select someone to take his suspension. He could pick J.T. or Andrew and the punishment would be meted out, but the team wouldn't suffer. Just an idea.04-cheers
"whose actions following the UT Arlington game"

Had to have been on the court after the game. Not likely to have been in the locker room or somewhere else.
"and in addition violated the Sun Belt Conference's sportsmanship code"

Sounds like this went higher than the local level.

If Chris didn't suspend him, the commissioner would have and it could have been worse. As it turns out. No harm no foul. We won a game without him and are better for it.
