Marina's is probably my all-time favorite restaurant in Memphis.
Others good choices for restaurants no longer in business include Melos La Taverna, John Grisanti's, Western Steakhouse, La Tourelle, Buntyn, Lupe 'n Bea's, La Montagne, Squash Blossom, Harry's on Teur and Giovanni's.

Marena's was such a unique concept. The food was incredible. Had they been a better location it would have been a huge success.

Harry's On Teur was maybe the best kept secret and the best value for the food that he served. When he sold it to Derk the place (Hwy 66 On Teur) was upgraded and I was very happy the menu actually got better. I was sorry when he decided to take the advice of a certain individual and move his thriving business downtown next door to Automatic Slim's. Didn't last long (maybe 2 years) before the strange sign on the front door that said "Closed due to business." Never found out what happened. Was sorry to see it closed.

Lupe n' Bea's was another great low cost food haven.

The grilled lamb and chicken at Melos was remarkable.

I haven't seen the Mark Twain Restaurant mentioned in this thread.

And even though they only serve breakfast but Brother Juniper's has become a Memphis favorite. I think somebody might have already posted about them though.

Took my future wife here on a date in the early 70's.

It had a huge Oak tree growing right in the middle of the dining room from floor through the ceiling.

And yes we both had Lobster Thermidor.

Yep, a breakfast to soothe the soul or ease a hangover. Country ham, eggs and biscuits n gravy.
