Are the Redskins making a move to ensure even more Acceptance of Mediocrity?

Was this the ballsy hire we needed?

Discussion is welcome among all HTTR Fans... and HATERS from other teams.

LOL HTTR!
I dislike the redskins more than any other NFCE team...

with that out of the way, I think he's both a "name" coach as well as a young, up and coming coordinator. I think both things work out for synder and the fan base in that regard. whether he can win with the skins is another story and I'm sure I'll get to hear about on the sports radio around here every day for the next couple of years which will just make me dislike the team even more.

I will say from the day Griff3 was drafted right up until about 1/2 way though the season this year, the skins fans were even worse to deal with than any other year that I can remember.
RRM, if Jay Gruden were hired to replace Coughlin, how would you react?

He's young... but he's white. Maybe he could connect with the offensive line, kicker, punter and middle linebacker?
I'm still a little bit in shock that we "got the best" the Bengals had to offer.

At least we didn't get "ZORN'ed" again... or did we?

He doesn't have to recruit and he wasn't the head coach of below average at best teams for most of the last 20 years, so I would say it was a solid hire. Our hire would have been more like the Skins deciding to hire Al Groh, Norv Turner, or Dave Wanstedt.

Edit: The more I think about it Norv Turner is the perfect comparison. Boring person, boring football, never sucks but is never good, and hasn't really had success since half of us were kids.
Jay gruden is nothing special.

As a giants fan, I'm meh about his hire.

I am, however, absolutely thrilled the giants "retired" Kevin killdrive.

Once we get a semblance of an offense back (no more shotgun draws on 3rd and 9) we should be the best team in the division again.

Gilbride was holding this team back tremendously, that was honestly my main complaint about Coughlin, not that he was a bad coach, but that he was allowing gilbride to keep his job over and over despite the fact he was clearly a terrible ooc. Probably why buddy Ryan punched him in the face in Houston.

But yeah, gruden is what he is, the brother of a guy who loves every player he's ever watched played football. If he's anything like his brother, it should be fun watching his press conferences. "I LOVED the way we lost by 40 points today".

Norv turner is actually a pretty solid comparison. He's norv through and through. Living off his success in the early to mid 90's and never even coming close to repeating it again.

Giants OC - sounds like Sullivan is the front runner, but I like that guy from GB (McAdoo) that we're also interviewing...also, looks like Quinn will stay at ST coach. ugh. he must have pics of coughlin and mara doing something illegal or something.
Well Rooney Mara is HOTTTT, so at least Tom's got that notched in his Victory Belt.

I'd post a pic (as I always do) but I'm in the return line at Costco
just like ODU...it ain't the coach!!!
Good move. HTTR. On a side note, I think the skins should go back to the R Helmet.

NFL head coach has to be the worst profession around, not just sports. To even have an opportunity at success you have to have a great owner, franchise QB and be willing to work 18-20 hr days every single day of the year.

If Gruden has the personality and drive to do that then he may very we'll be successful but what a miserable existence. Anything short of a Super Bowl is considered a failure.

I'm more of a Kate Mara man myself.
Are you guys talking about Gruden or JJ?

I like the hire. But I also think any coach the Redskins hire is hobbled by ownership.
^ Agree and we had so many coaches not pan out. Very frustrating and tempers the excitement.
All in all, probably not a bad hire. Certainly none of the "big name" hires have worked out for Snyder over the years, and there have been quite a few. Personnally, I hope he shows a lot of potential for about five years.

THWTR!

Cheers!
Kate Mara in House of Cards.....hotttttttttttt
many Bengals fans (yes there a few) are glad to see him go...some more moderate ones, as I fashion myself to be, aren't glad but aren't too concerned about it either...too many offensive bed-crappings in big games...of course Gruden didn't commit 4 turnovers last week...most Bengals fans are much more concerned about losing the DC, Zimmer, who definitely couldn't have worked for Snyder...well he could have for a few games until he ended up giving Danny-boy a golden swirly...
