Too many "assistants" on that list for my taste. We don't need a secretary, we need a CEO.
Too many canned names on the list for one to think Mackin would go that route.

If the recent choices are any indication it will be someone that we have not heard or thought of as a possibility.

I guess hiring a coach who has had an extramarital affair with a reporter is better than hiring one who got a cheerleader pregnant, but IWW can do better, I hope.

He did a good job at Arkansas (for the most part)..........had 2 good seasons at Ole Miss, then totally tanked there. He always had a strong running game though.

1998 Arkansas 9–3 6–2 T–1st (West) L Florida Citrus 17 16
1999 Arkansas 8–4 4–4 3rd (West) W Cotton 19 17
2000 Arkansas 6–6 3–5 5th (West) L Las Vegas
2001 Arkansas 7–5 4–4 3rd (West) L Cotton
2002 Arkansas 9–5 5–3 T–1st (West) L Music City
2003 Arkansas 9–4 4–4 4th (West) W Independence
2004 Arkansas 5–6 3–5 3rd (West)
2005 Arkansas 4–7 2–6 4th (West)
2006 Arkansas 10–4 7–1 1st (West) L Capital One 16 15
2007 Arkansas 8–4[n 2] 4–4 3rd (West) Cotton[n 2]
Arkansas: 75–48 42–38

He did pretty well at arkansas with his players and the former coaches players.

I really hope we give him a shot.

Probably a long shot & would be laughed at here for obvious reasons, but Mike Shula.

He is on the verge of getting an NFL head coaching job in the near future.
If that is true, then why on God's green earth would he take this job? Seriously?
I know. Hence the long shot mention.

To piss off Alabama for canning his ass?
Kirby Smart ?
Smart's salary is already outside of what UAB would offer, I believe.

Also, considering it would require the BOT's approval, ain't gonna happen.

Makes more money than UAB will pay. He already makes about 750,000 now and will probably get a raise this year.

Seriously? We couldn't hire Fisher bc Saban may have wanted him on his staff so they are going to let us hire the current DC?

Let's stay in our lanes folks. UAB can't afford a top-level assistant from most AQ colleges...

He's lucky he still has a job at Alabama after this year.

lol most of the Alabama fans think Nussmeir was the problem. Nevermind they have scored more points under Nuss's two year tenure.

He may see the moving van that is carrying Lane Kiffin's ego and decide the football building isn't going to be big enough.
The better the name recognition of the new FBHC, the more likely we are to be able to hold onto our most desirable recruits in Feb. Last time we hired a finalist for the Broyles Assistant Coach of the Year Award and while it didn't immediately work out (W-L), it did help improve the quality of recruits this year. Whoever we choose (of those willing to come), we need a quick hire this month to maintain the program's appeal to recruits. Next week is a critical week in the process of renewal.

That's a terrible list. Look at the head coaches only. Nutt, Clark, or Mumme.
