What brought more joy to you as a kid?

Someone saying "I don't know" on "You can't do that on television!"

Or Mr. Moose saying "Ping Pong balls" on "Captain Kangaroo?"
Neither. You must be old.

I'm ripening. And if you don't know, you deserve to be slimed.

Hey, Captain Kangaroo was to some of us what Sesame Street was to some of you.

And we got to watch the real Superman on Saturday mornings.
since I didn't have cable, I never watched You Can't Do That On Television unless I went to a friend's house.

Captain Kangaroo was okay, but I preferred Sesame Street and this one:

it still cracks me up that morgan freeman was on that show.

Now sliming is something I fondly remember from my childhood, just not from that particular show. Definitely watched All That, though. At least I'm familiar with the shows you mention. More than most people my age could say I bet.
Didn't have cable TV until I was a junior in HS

Nick's sliming originated from YCDTOT.

And how Nick's sliming originated from YCDTOT!
Easily a vote for the Captain. I remember the first airing of Sesame Street so yes, in the old group.
Out of those I'd say the sliming. I avoided saying "I don't know" for years as a kid because of that. I also don't understand why they never said "water" right afterwards.

I think I remember it happening the other way around.

I used take baths, say "water" and pour water on my head like I was on YCDTOTV.
Let's not forget Shari Lewis and Lambchop!

Oh yeah. Red Skelton and his characters and Jackie Gleason and his skits.
Moose was hot
I am old enough to remember when Captain Kangaroo was just a joey (ICYDK, a young kangaroo). Anyone else remember Mrs. Francis and Ding Dong School?
