I know some of you guys are saying what does this have to do with us. But, Petrino was at WKU. he is considered a very strong recruiter and no doubt his name helped recruit the strong class that may come to WKU. Petrino does have questionable ethics but he is a good coach. My point is I am sure some of the WKU recruits may have chosen WKU because of him. WKU will have to re-recruit many of their players. Some of the players that may have chose WKU over us may look elsewhere.

If this is a done deal. Petrino has 6months to pay back wku $1.5 mil.. smart planning on the part of wku
This game just went from a sure loss to toss up in my opinion.
He did a heck of a job. I like having good coaches in the conference, sorry to see him go. There are a couple of recruits that we are both after. Tough for them with the signing period starting in a few weeks.

I echo your thoughts. I like having good coaches with name recognition in our conference.
They got so much press after the hire, most of it was good. I mean it went on for days, front page of every sport internet site, you can't buy press like that. Did JMU have their press conference yet?

likely Brohm (their OC) will take over as head coach. he doesn't have the name, but he's allegedly a really good coach and played in the NFL for a while too (mostly as a clip board holder).

Yes, that appears to be a done deal and they will likely not suffer the type of regression many may peg them for.

Their recruiting class is tops in CUSA and most recruits are tweeting out about leading WKU to the #Brohm-ised Land.
For those who haven't seen it, this is what Brohm is famous for.

Maybe he'll hire the guy with the chinstrap. Side question - does Louisville have women's volleyball?
Is it me or is Louisville the first school to have coaches named Petino and Petrino?
Hey, now that you mention it, they've got 2 adulterers. Who's worse?

Agreed. It's a loss for the conference.

Its a loss, but I doubt the most optimistic of WKU fans knew he wouldn't stick around for long.
I miss the days when loyalty to the school was part of coaching(ie. Parsigian/Notre Dame)(Beamer/VT). Your name was associated with the school, giving athletes 2 reasons to play for you. the school and the coach. Weary of the mercenary mentality of what should be providing the best college experience for students and athletes. WKU gave Petrino a second chance and he repays them with bailing after a year. (I know) its not like they didnt know who they were in bed with, i just keep hoping for better character to show up some day and provide appropriate leadership for our up and coming adults. Thank you for listening, ill get off the soapbox now.

Well put. Is much as VCU disgusts me, I actually have a lot of respect for Shaka for this reason. He is certainly milking them for all they can pay him, but he could still be making a lot more money working for a BCS school.
Vandy looks like they may be losing their coach to Penn St. Now, I don't know if we can poach any of their recruits, but we play them next season and they'll be dealing with a new coach and systems.
You know when names were first being thrown around on message boards for the UofL job I mentioned Bobby Wilder. I lived down in the Norfolk area for a few years and followed the ODU program, even went to a game. I loved watching the exciting brand of football. My only concern was that he seems to not care about playing defense at all. But I love what he has done and is doing with the ODU program and am sure he will be successful quickly in C-USA. Who will be the next big QB there?
