I'm trying to, Topper.
Georgia State is tough.

The reality is that you want to finish no worse than 4th. 1st or 2nd would be ideal.

There really is a lot to play for during the season. Makes the regular season much more meaningful. Everyone wants to finish in the top 4. Like you said, Top 2 and you are in the semifinals.
Four-way tie at the top, and it is four of the teams we expected to be in the top tier. And 7 of the 8 wins were on the road. The test will come when they start playing one another.

You have to weight the regular season somehow to make it mean something. The league did a good job with it this year.

Georgia State's next 4 games are against 2-0 teams. They will have a pretty good idea of where they stand by next week.

Personally, I think the eventual regular season champion might have 4 losses this year.

I would not be a bit surprised.

To make it even better, I'd give the league championship a bye to the final game. That way, you at least have a 50-50 chance of your best team for the season representing your league in the NCAA.04-cheers

Impressive win. I would say GaState is in the driver's seat at this point.
One thing is for sure. ASU is certainly not. We let Troy set all sorts of Convocation Center records tonight.

I'm a afraid you are going to get one angry and desperate USA team Saturday night. They are a lot more talented than I thought. I really don't know how we came back and won. Probably because they jacked up tons of 3's instead of going to their big guys inside who are pretty hard to stop.

Troy went something like 14 of 22 from three for the night, and a kid who averaged 7 points per game went for 35.

We didn't play defense at all, but I have never seen a team shoot the ball that well for a full 40 minutes. We didn't even make it close in the 2nd half.

So I guess Troy still plays the same way, even with a new coach. Will kill you if they are hitting 3's and will lose big if they are not. I recall a tournament game, several years back, when a mediocre Troy team trounced you guys in the tourney by 30 or so by hitting a ton of 3's. I think you were a top seed, if I recall correctly.

Troy has owned us in basketball for years...I've never quite figured it out. They have as much success, if not more, in Jonesboro in the last 7 years as you guys and WKU do. Its insane.

One difference in this team is they don't sit in the zone all day, and will actually run an offense if they cant get an open three. They've got a coach with a Rick Stansbury background, and you can sort of see the early elements of it. They are very athletic and are not afraid to shoot or bang you down low.

Its just they usually don't shoot well. I mean, they only scored 53 on freaking UCLA.
