Phil Everly , the younger of the Everly Brothers had died in LA, He collasped and could not be revived , He suffered from COPD. I gew up Listening to thier songs.
The Everly Brothers are the most important vocal duo in rock. The enduring influence of their close, expressive harmonies is evident in the work of British Invasion bands like the Beatles and the Hollies, and of folk-oriented acts such as Simon and Garfunkel, not to mention countless solo artists, among them Dave Edmunds, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt. Most of the Everlys' hit singles — "Bye Bye Love," "Wake Up Little Susie," "All I Have to Do Is Dream" — merged Nashville's clean instrumental country style with innocuous teenage themes, and were smoother than other contemporary country-rock hybrids like rockabilly. Their mastery is revealed in their ballads, among them "Let It Be Me."

Good article. There was no mistaking their unique sound and that's what makes them very special and groundbreaking.

And man do I love me some Hollies. I would add to that list such groups as CSN&Y, America, and the BG's. They were all influenced by the Everly Brothers.

Very sad and bittersweet to see these musicians of my generation begin to pass on of old age. How did we get old???
Those cats could sing. Really sing.
Sad news. Music icon.

And 21-17, I love me some Hollies too.

And play acoustic guitar, they had some great guitar licks. Can be hard to play for amateurs like me. They were one of my early favorites even though their songs were 10 or more years old when I got into them.

It has been reported that the early Beatles were turned down a few times because they sounded too much like The Everly Brothers
