And here you have it - the FBS conference of small population centers. Take out the two non-football schools, and you have only three cities with even a 100,000 population: Mobile, Lafayette and Las Cruces, and NMSU is football only at this time.
U left out Atlanta

Atlanta 432,487 ( metro 5.5 million)
You left out Monroe too
The Mobile Metro is quite a bit bigger as well, but nothing like Atlanta.

So is Mobile, we'll be the second largest in the league as long as GaSt is around.

Was just packing for B12...what was that you say?

Now now, let's not rush to judgment here. Lolly Polly's hometown of Ruston has a population of 21,859 AND a water tower and they're dripping with prestige. Don't believe me, just ask a Polly fan.

As of 2013, the Statesboro-Bulloch County Micropolitan Statistical Area joined Savannah and Hinesville to form the Savannah-Hinesville-Statesboro, GA Combined Statistical Area with a 2012 population of 516,154 (ranking 86th in the United States)

If that's the case I guess we can claim Montgomery (374,556)
We have more trees.
Hard to have a huge population normally in a resort community.
People do like to visit though.

If that is what the census says then it sounds good to me; Statesboro-Bulloch County's portion of that population area is just 73,000 so I would say that is our core population.

Mobile MSA is 602,877 plus Pensacola (461,227) is 45 miles to the east. Gulfport-Biloxi - Pascaquola MSA (379,582) is 45 miles to the west. To the north is Washington County (17,000). If you count the adjacent counties in Mississippi then that is about 1.5 million people living within a 60 mile radius of dowtown Mobile.

It seems to me that the Sun Belt has more potential fan support than some would have us believe.

Indeed. A given school in a metropolitan area might have 1,000,000 potential viewers but often also has 5 other programs in the area competing for those same viewers.
