I don't like how ESPN/ABC has just about every bowl game on TV, except for the Sun, Cotton and Gator. I think it makes the bowl season boring and monotonous. If you are not a BCS bowl, they basically treat every bowl the same.

You would think with all these new national sports cable channels, that they would want bowl games. Do they? And when can they start bidding on them? I would also like to see CBS, NBC and Fox regular broadcast show some bowl games. I like the theme music to CBS football.

If all these stations had a couple of bowl games, they could each advertise for their game and make them seem like a bigger deal to fans watching it. Bowls on ESPN feel so stale.

Just a word of warning...it going to be even worse once the Playoff start...the focus will solely be on the Semifinals...not even the other CFP Bowl that are not playoff games will get that much attention...they are basically high paying exhibition games...07-coffee3
ESPN owns and operates a lot of the lower bowl games. It's like 10 bowl games that are ESPN-Owned.

Fox, NBC or CBS would almost need to create their own bowls and get them through.
Apparently FOX Sports 1 and Rupert Murcoch are throwing $100 millions of dollars around for programming.

Bowl games get good ratings. Throw that money at the Alamo Bowl, the Holiday Bowl, the Citrus Bowl, etc. I am sure you could get a couple takers.

ABC and ESPN collectively broadcast 32 out the 35 bowl games. Talk about a monopoly...

Simple solution would be for fans to not participate and stay home in protest. Schools will ultimately listen to their fans for financial reasons and this will ultimately force market changes. If they expanded the playoffs to 16 teams ...and perhaps a "play-in" round to get to 16....it would make the post season meaningful again for fans and players.
