Watching the BG-Pitt bowl game, I just saw something strange happen. The offensive lineman (#82) to the far right of their center faked like he was blocking, then ran a pattern like a receiver does and caught the ball and ran for a touchdown. Has anyone here ever seen such a thing? Is this legal? Where does this BG offensive coordinator come up with these crazy things? I wonder if UT would ever consider using such a creature in the future...
Amstutz used a play like that years back. Got some good yardage on it, too. Can't recall who they would throw to. Was it Odenthal? (Doesn't sound right.)

He is a tight end. This a normal play for a tight end.

The last time we regularly called a play similar was under Amstutz.

Hmmm....a tight end is the name for that. I wonder if we would be allowed to add one of those positions to our team? If so, that would probably be fun and add another dimension to the offense.

Thanks!
Well, so far, I would say Pitt looks like the stronger team. Not sure BUGS can last, but we will see. I hope their RB survives this game. On that last carry he got swatted down like a mosquito! If they can keep the pressure on Savage they might knock him out. He looks like he's hurtin'. Don't know what their 2 is like. Been a good game so far.

I can picture the guy that you are thinking of...he was a tackle and like 6'7" and like 320lbs right?

But yeah, 42 is right about this position. I googled it and apparently it is legal to have at least one of these so-called tight ends on your squad. 03-cloud9

Yeah, Pitt looks better than I expected but I'm not sure how much is due to BG not having their HC.

It would be nice to have a big guy with hands. I'd also like a full back for the red zone. My favorite full back moment was when good ole point shaving - scooter mcdoogle aided the rockets come from behind victory vs BG in 04.

was is Fassen or something like that i think he was from canada
Zmolik is definitely under-utilized!!!
Watching BUGS try to run the ball is sad. Or funny in a sadistic kind of way.

Conner is a LOAD. Man O Man, Pitt just needs to complete a few passes and keep running Conner down their throat. They have no answer for him.

Rosenbauer lines up at fullback and even had a handful of carries.
Who puts thei 200+ yarf tsilback in on defense to rush the QB? I love it. Old scool D. 4th and impossible says the play by play guy.
Silly time.

That was great, I loved it!!!

I also love the fact that BGSUcks gave up 7 sacks in this game, if I am correct, I believe Toledo gave up 6 sacks all year!!!
3 for 3, MAC showing how weak it is this season
When the pressure is on BGSucks implodes.

Why is it they have to copy everything we do!?
Sad to see the MACC lose to a poor Pitt team. Doesn't say much for the strength of the MAC. Maybe bgsucks would have done better if they had Clawson.
If they only had a RB they would have won.

Watching them try to run the ball was like watching Herve Villechaize running the wrong way in the Pamplona Bull Run. I had to close my eyes!
