Zero minutes today.

Maybe I'm not the only one being too hard on him.
i saw him in the game ?
That statistician didn't.
Alright, the box score I looked at after the game didn't have him listed. The one now gives him two minutes and doughnuts across the stat line. He got one more minute than Karl Moton did.
Man, he works hard and has all kind of talent. I wish we could figure out what the disconnect was.

Every year, I've said THIS is the year he breaks out, and I haven't been right yet.
Things started going downhill for Purifoy when he got switched out of his natural position and they had him trying to post up rather than playing on the perimeter. Since then he has never really been the same.
First, Herb is shooting fifty percent(1-2) from the field and one hundred percent from the free throw line(2-2), has four rebounds(2 offensive, 2 defensive), has zero turnovers, zero fouls, zero assists, zero steals, and zero blocked shots, in nine total minutes of playing time at Eastern Kentucky(8-4), this season.

When UAB plays against the tougher opponents, sometimes Jordan Swing seems to be playing a bit out of his league, so to speak, on both ends of the court. He is not the best defensive player in the world, and when defensed, against superior athletes, is thrown into check on the offensive end. It might not have been a bad idea to have started Preston, instead of Jordan. No, really! I kid you not! Defense is very important in beating tough teams. For instance, Preston played fourteen minutes against New Mexico and Jordan played thirteen minutes. Defense has to keep UAB in the game, against the toughest opponents.

Just my thoughts.

Oh! Have I mentioned that UAB desperately needs a brand new on campus football stadium?

Have a nice Sunday.
I hate that we didn't throw Preston into the mix yesterday to see if he could knock a three down (since no one else could). The problem is he's a very set shooter, and we couldn't get any good looks off of screens yesterday.

One relevant point, 2 irrelevant.

I'd call that progress. Nice work.

Which one is relevant? The stadium?
And all progress is lost.

+1

I too thought about this, it may be the only way we get something out of Purifoy. Swing and Williams will add some strength to the bench production.

04-cheers
UAB still managed to grab 48 rebounds to 39 for LSU. LSU had 20 assists and 10 turnovers and UAB had 7 assists and 15 turnovers. LSU shot 50 percent. UAB shot 30 percent. Not a good game, strategically.

Drew also noted that LSU hit on 10 of 18 from beyond the arc (for 30 points) while UAB hit on 1 of 16 (for 3 points). The individual top scorers for each team were about equal (LSU's 17 and UAB's 15), but LSU's top scorer had more help.
UAB played a poor game in nearly every facet, besides rebounding. Even a lot of our rebounds can be attributed to our poor shooting. To compound things, LSU came out shooting red hot. A bad to worst case scenario for UAB yesterday.

I'm not sure what Purifoy is going to give us at this point. I've come to like Swing more and more, even though his shot isn't falling with any real consistency. Unless he's getting absolutely torched out there or is going 0-10, I think we have to ride with him at this point. He has a nice all around game, and does a lot of things to help the team while on the floor.
The thing that's impressed me the most about Swing this year is his passing ability.
Obviously, we all like Purifoy, and he has seemingly been a good ambassador for UAB. However, at this point in his career, we just need to accept him as the player that he is currently, not the player that he could be. If he was going to make any strides in his playing ability, that should have happened a couple of seasons ago.

This. No knock against Purifoy but I have always thought of him as role player.

Yeah. I'd have to agree that at this point in his career, he's only good for spot minutes when either Swing or Williams are hurt, playing very poorly, or in foul trouble. He could be used in spots for a three point spark off the bench, but he still seems hesitant to shoot it when he's in the game. He should've been so much more 03-hissyfit.
