I just saw his name and knew not to clink on the link.
Say what you want about him, he identifies as a "fiscally conservative independent" and he isn't lying about this issue. I don't think it's individual black people that would have a problem with it (they'd think it was weird, surely), but it's the "leaders".
I'm frankly sick of ESPN being a political soapbox. If I want political commentary, I'll tune into Fox News, MSNBC, or CNN. I have stopped watching ESPN other than for live sports events and the occasional documentary. Their sports news sucks now. Whatever happened to shows like NFL Primetime?

I don't like it either, but we've come into an age where it's unfortunately appropriate to butt in with your political opinions anywhere.
I've always had a lot of respect for Stephen A. because IMO, he always tells it like it is. No political correctness in his commentary. In the past, he has criticized blacks when it was warranted and stood up when they were unfairly criticized.

Although I don't agree with him on every issue, I believe that he is dead on about this one.
For once I agree with Stephen A. Smith.

I was actually thinking about how it's actually easier to find 24/7 sports news on the TV than actual hard news - even HLN, which for many years was a repeating 30-minute newscast, has gone the way of political opinion and celebrity "news" programs. Once can turn on Fox Sports Live around 11 PM Eastern, and with a couple of exceptions it repeats all the way up to Noon the next day. SportsCenter pretty much covers the other half of the day. If sports news starts suffering from the same mission drift, journalism as a profession is dead.
I don't think you guys watched the video.

Jim Brown is the one who said something stupid and racist. Stephen A. Smith actually was pretty damned reasonable and logical and made good sense.
One of few times have agreed with him. He is so out there a lot of times.

I wasn't dogging Smith and his opinion... it isn't a bad opinion... just isn't what I am looking for when I tune into ESPN.
