I have mentioned in the past that we're probably better off recruiting primarily jucos as opposed to Freshmen. I would amend this in a couple of cases. Assuming we have veteran point guards available for at least a year or two, I would try and always find and recruit one Freshman point guard each season who would be willing to wait their turn to be a starter until their Junior Season. In addition, I'd try and find one Freshman big man who could redshirt and develop in time. Other than that, I'd probably try and confine my main recruiting to jucos.

One thing that you can't be sure of is how well a Freshman, who is a good three point shooter in high school, will be able to adapt to the distance change at the college level. Doesn't seem like much, but you add that foot, and it changes everything. If a juco is a really good three point shooter, you're comparing apples with apples and you're more sure of what you're getting. Of course, it's always about the ability to recruit good jucos, just like recruiting Freshmen. But I think you have a clearer idea of their ability, though you normally only have them for two years.
The ideal would be to find good jucos with three years eligibility left, like Will.04-cheers
I like a mixture of freshmen and Juco's at our level. Don't like all Juco teams. I like to have some guys around longer than two years, especially when they say it normally takes a Juco a year to learn the Di1 ropes.
Well we've got a couple of sweet 4 points a game averaging jucos coming next year so enjoy!
