Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. It's total bull, Kid kills 4 people driving drunk and gets off with 10 years of probation at a resort spa just because he is rich???? He already had drug, alcohol, and driving issues gets off with no punishment. Makes me angry and sad for the victim's families....

Judge should be ashamed of herself

Video interview with the father/husband of two of the victims:

If he was black he'd be sentenced to life without parole.
this sets a terrifying legal precedent if nothing is done about it. Now every 17-20 year old that gets a DUI is going to plead this case. And they have a backbone with it.
About as far off base as the teacher who got 31 days in jail for rape of a 14 year old student. Student committed suicide afterwards.

Juvenile is about treatment, not retribution.

Alchohol/drugs is a medically treatable thing, apparently.

And that rehab center, at $475,000 a year, payed for by the family, should provide some excellent treatment, eh?

So we should be thankful another kid will be saved from a life of excess and degradation, yes?
This is all depressing shiite....
Are we sure Brovol wasn't the jurist who laid down this sentence?

Pretty much.
The underlying problem here is not the "affluenza" but further devaluing the lives of pedestrians. You read about it everywhere, from DC to Ottawa County to Fort Worth, drivers who kill pedestrians get off light, regardless if they are (found) drunk or sober. Guy in DC gets four years (minus one for good behavior) for running down an old lady, doesn't even bother to stop. Cops found him later at a friend's, thankfully he still blew over 0.08. Ottawa County, two jerkoffs screwing around both hit a pedestrian crossing the street and leave the scene. Unfortunately cops don't find them for 12 hours, giving them plenty of time to sober up. They both got six months plus time served. Then you got this a-hole.

I say it time and again: If you really want to off somebody, find them walking on foot in the District and run them down with your car. If you can do three years, you can get away with murder. This stabbing and shooting is for amatuers.
I see the real problem as being that the court system did not hold him accountable for his choices and actions. He shoplifts, indulges in excessive drinking at the age of 16, and kills four people while driving under the influence. A judge then finds he was not responsible because his parents spoiled him.

First off the kid should be held accountable for his actions. Secondly, if the judge wants to blame the parents for how they raised him, then send them to prison while the kid is in rehab.

I thought some states were doing something like this at one point. Holding the parents responsible for the kids actions. Might have been truancy?
Every now and then the big dollar people have to just quit pretending and remind us that there is a flat out double standard and they don't care what we think. This is one of those times.

Prediction. This won't be the last time that we hear about this kid.
