Officially a 4.5 3 miles SSW of Arcadia Oklahoma. There are more of these mostly 3.0 and smaller due to fracking in the area. 4.5 is kind of big for a fracking induced quake so we'll see. It is also obliquely part of the New Madrid Zone.

Why don't you try reading some articles about what is going on with fracking in Oklahoma. There have been several good ones about the minor quakes caused by the practice. Yes, Oklahoma has always had quakes because of the faults in the area, but the frequency of 3.0 and less quakes is up and for good reason.

Their has been seismic activity in Oklahoma for thousands of years. One of which was the second largest in 1955 - Long before fracking was even a thought. We go through active periods and we go through inactive periods.

All faults will go through times where there is more or less activity. There's no such thing as a true inactive fault, it could just be 100,000 years between earthquakes. These things are extremely unpredictable and there's still no method to tell when they will happen. Sometimes there are signs up to 48 hours before an earthquake, but no one knows when it will happen.

The jury is still out across the board, Lot's of debate on both sides of the issue. The truth of the matter is that there's still a lot of research to be done before anything can be called conclusive.

Anyway, off to spin for this thing!
