What I was hinting at a couple of weeks about our verbal numbers was that PJ was going to have to be getting rid of a few kids. WOTS is he has released about 7 kids from scholarships.
You think he was anticipating it happening naturally?
I have a feeling it is guys that would never contribute. Cubit was notorious for keeping guys that were busts on the team.
So was Jack Harbaugh…… pfffft.
Contribute on the field is what I meant.
I know, I get it….Been a year now.

AJ King, Nick Dance, Manny Diaz, Leo Alba, Cortney Bines, Jared Joyner (already gone) and maybe Dustin Pringle.

honestly, as the dad of a scholarship athlete, I hate it when coaches do that. if you offer a scholly, honor it.

Thank you. Sounds pretty raw to me.
Correct me if need be, but I thought schollies are given year to year and usually are renewed every year. Or is this only in certain sports?
From what I understand, it is a year by year thing. Hence kids getting shown the door.

I really believe coaches should honor them for 4 years. Its a good debate though...
dip, are those the guys that were released or is that your guess? If its your guess then I have a few more to add to the list

Other than Jpyner those are my guesses. I'd like to hear yours.

This...

So long as a kid makes grades and obeys the rules a scholarship should be 4 years and honored...

No this is what it is..

The truth is that some people have scholly athletes so busy chacing some kind of stipend that they are not focusing on guaranteed (grades and behavior) scholarships.

Didn't these athletes prove themselves on the field at one time, unless I'm mistaken?

Also, weren't they all injured?

Chip, how did you come up with these names? I'm just surprised. Of course, I don't know how this scholarship stuff works.
I was under the impression Diaz and Wynn walked with the seniors. So they wouldn't count.

I would add Michael Butler, Michael Henry, John Jackson to the list if it was Flecks decision.

If it was other factors, possibly Travis Turner, Trevor Ishmael, Garrett Smith, Brett Scanlon.
Word on the street is none of these were related to on field performance and several were the decision of the student.
I know that in my playing days a few guys were helped get into a better situation to play. Mostly transferring to a DII school but never saw anyone forced out without a reason like grades or legal. I admired molde for sticking by his players and rewarding many walk ons over the years.

I guess we are moving into the big time and these are now truly one year deals.

I hope this is true
