Quote:The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and has drawn more than 40,000 spectators in each of the last two years. The American Athletic Conference has agreed to play in the bowl in 2018, against a Sun Belt Conference opponent, and in 2019, against a Conference USA opponent.
They are aware that the only reason they got 40k+ is because Louisiana was in it right? Not because it's a great bowl game.

Da----UL in it three years in a row.
So it looks like the AAC, the MAC, the Sun Belt, and CUSA are now going to share the ESPN bowls. I see that the Go Daddy is out of that rotation (its not ESPN owned).
Looks like the NOLA Bowl is not the primary home of AAC, and the SBC is a part timer. C USA splitting with SBC. Sucks to be in SBC.

I think this is just ESPN moving teams around in their owned bowls. It doesn't matter what they do with the bowls though. Because there will be plenty of spots available for all bowl eligible teams starting next year.

If you note, it looks like the NOB and the Miami bowl just switched up in 2019. That's all.

But there's better news for the Belt in this. It actually looks like the Belt is getting an upgrade in this. Because now we will be playing AAC teams instead of only playing CUSA/MAC ones.

As far as I can tell, this might be GOOD news for the Sun Belt.

By the way, the AAC isn't happy with their new bowl lineup. They were so mad that I didn't bother to pile on with the prediction that, due to the playoff, its less likely that those precious bowl tie ins between the 10th place SEC team or the 11th place ACC team are likely to be filled with a MAC/MWC/CUSA/SBC teams.
Which year is it we have an agreement to play in Miami?

I see what you are saying, but its going to depend on the bowl. We're pretty certain the SEC is going to place 1, or sometimes two teams in the playoff every year. That gives a good chance that a bowl tied in with the 10th place SEC team will be open.

At the same time, access to a Big 12 bowl might be harder since the league isn't as strong.
We really need to add another bowl to be stable. I hope Benson is making this a priority...

I think were okay for now. We have 2 non-Espn bowls plus this ESPN bowl alliance thing, which looks like will provide 2 slots for us each year. Besides, unless the NCAA allows teams with losing records over 6-6 teams to bowl, we'll be good either way.

We'd like to, but right now I think we may have to settle for a couple of backup deals in SEC tied bowls.

Troy vs USM
MT vs USM
Troy vs Ohio

All three drew 30k, if it's true the game will move to Tulane's new stadium, it won't really matter.
The #CamelliaBowl is available in 2014 also.

The reason the AAC is taking control of the New Orleans Bowl from the Belch is because of the power and prestige academically of new AAC member Tulane University of Louisiana

Geez...they are not taking control of the bowl from the Sun Belt. We are swapping tie ins for 2019, and sharing sometimes with CUSA. That way, USM, Tulane, and ULL three three biggest draws for the bowl, can all have a chance to play in the game.
12 teams...6-7 bowls per season...3-4 P5 match-ups...sounds pretty decent to me.

Dude trolls the AAC board too...ignore.
What is the Sun Belt lineup looking like for 2014-19. Serious question. NO Bowl, Camelia, Go Daddy, and ?? Which years do they get those bowls also. Thanks.
