Is Wake Forest to small of a school that will lack the resources to continue to survive in the P5 World? I do not mean this as an insult but given the cost of Big time sports well? 07-coffee3
What do you mean by survive? Wake is an original member of the ACC. They're not getting kicked out.

No, I never said they should be kicked out. An original member never should be kicked out. I recently read an article that expense of P5 may be to great for a few schools. If I can find the link, I will add to the discussion. I was just wondering about given Wake is a small 7,400 student private school, if the cost of P5 sports might be to great going forward. Is Wake's Athletic Department profitable?

Yes they are profitable. They have the least amount of revenue in the conference, but the fewest expenses too. They are not caught up in the arms race with building huge facilities to keep up with the Joneses
Jim Grobe resigned. Whoa.

Yes.

Wake is Wake. Duke is Duke. Vandy is Vandy. NW is NW. These schools will have moments, but they will all be bad more often than good.
Thank you for the input. I have been search and found this link.

ACC 2012 Revenues

It shows all the ACC schools for 2012. I was surprise how strong Wake looks. Let me know if the numbers are correct. I am still learning about the ACC.

Hello Pete Lembo.
I am a fan of the ACC mixture of small private and large public, its fun to see the smaller schools such as Boston College and Wake succeed against say UVA, UNC and FSU. Remember Wake beat FSU 30-0 at one point, I think it is what makes this conference so exciting. Smaller stadiums mean smaller expenses so they still make profits.

They were last out of 12 ACC schools in revenue. By a substantial margin. Their expenses were less than $45M. That's like Memphis and New Mexico.
That's why Wake can be profitable. They march to a different tune. They aren't involved in the arms race.

Seems like most of the ACC is oblivious to said arms' race.

Nah. Just the smaller schools who really have no shot (Wake, BC, Duke, etc). The bigger schools..FSU, Clemson, UNC, Louisville etc., are definitely down with the arms race.

Hello Pete Lembo.

Bobby Petrino! COGS
wake forest will never be kicked out of the ACC. however this program is quickly becoming the b10s equivalent of chicago.

the problems with wake forest IMO are

1. they are in a state that has 3 in conference rivals. WF provides very little to the ACC from a regional standpoint

2. north carolina has a total of 7 FBS schools starting in 2015 and is by far the most saturated market in cfb

3. they are incredibly small (6th smallest fbs) beating out only rice, tulsa, navy, air force, & army

4. their academics are decent. however by no means are they on the same level as duke, vandy, nw, duke, & stanford.

the interesting thing is that WF has the same issues that duke has to deal with (issue's 2 & 3). however their sub par athletics and inferior academics make them a big liability for the acc.
That sounds just like the University of Chicago.
