OK so we have something to prove. With that being said what should game plan be? Put multiple people on smart use some fouls and hope for no 4 point plays or come out and play a 2-3 zone to keep him out of the lane? Me personally I'd like to see a 2-2-1 press and fall back in 2-3 and hope they are cold from outside. Thoughts? Go tigers!04-rock
Just play inside out throughout the entire game. Put pressure on Ok. St.'s defense constantly. Rebound well. Defend the three. Limit foul trouble. Don't let Smart get 40. We'll win if we can do that.
Yeah I believe I would tell team if you let smart score easy and at will your coming out. Make him earn it, we have a lot of fouls we can use up at the guard position.
Lets see how he likes to have a Tiger inside his shirt. Rough him up a little.
This a game where I would not be upset if we had a couple of guys foul out from over playing on defense. I would be way aggressive on Smart, just hound him all game. Make him work and tire him out. I guess, I don't know.
I never ever like to get beat ever! I will be really upset if we get beat and it was because of lack of defense on smart. Sounds like the majority of people agree to use some fouls and play very agrresive d on him. If a couple foul out so what, send somebody else in and give them a chance to step up and prove themselves. I'll be very disappointed if we go down without absolutely giving it 110%.
Use the bench early without cutting your own throat and beat him up.
I like the 2-1-2 press or just a straight up man-to-man press better than the 2-2-1 because once the 2-2-1 is broken it's almost always a guaranteed uncontested layup. I also like NOT guarding the inbound man.

I also like a box and 1 or triangle and two defense over a 1-3-1 zone defense; for a straight zone defense I like the 2-3 or 2-1-2.

2-2-1 with 2-3 fall back is the way to go...PLUS, we need to slow down the game...our guys don't seem comfortable running fast and don't seem to be in sync while running the floor. This will help in their transition D as well..
For those of you who'll be in attendance, try these techniques when Smart has the ball. They may be our only chance in stopping him...
