We could find a coach and not leave the city of Birmingham. Pat Sullivan is getting up there in years and I'm not sure how much longer he's willing to coach with his health. I would interview the coach who took the interim tag while he was out. The fact that he kept the train on the tracks while coach Pat was out is a plus for me.
If you think Sullivan would ever come back to coach at UAB, you need to do some more research.

Ain't no way!
Is Fairfield to far to go for a coach?

I hope you are not talking about a coach who cannot beat my Golden Tigers. 05-stirthepot
Unless I'm reading the original poster wrong he meant someone other than Sullivan.

And... If the BOT kamakazied the Sullivan hire the first time, why would it be permitted now?

Yes, I was not talking Sullivan.

You can not have the coach of my Golden Tigers, by the way.

Correct. I misread.

Yes! I imagine another half Blazer fan would be upset. 05-stirthepot
The guy you're talking about is Will Friend?05-stirthepot
We need a former head coach that knows how to nail down every detail for a top flight BCS program and would be willing to train his grossly underpaid assistants.

Our special teams were atrocious yesterday. IMO, they were even worse than our neighbor 60 miles to the West.

Agree 100%.

UTSA, Texas State, UCF, and WKU are some teams that had pretty good luck hiring a fired/disgraced head coach with at least some experience winning. Here's a few names that might fill that role for UAB:

Tommy Bowden (Clemson)

Mike Stoops (Arizona)

Jeff Tedford (Cal)

Tom O'Brien (NC State) *At 64 maybe too old.

Danny Hope (Purdue)

All those guys at least got into the post-season a few times. They could probably put together a decent staff. Maybe not the guys that will land us that BCS spot down the road but all could scrape 6 wins out of our current schedule.
We tried hiring the fired head coach route. It didn't work.

His best winning % as a HC was at UAB though.

*** Not counting his 2 year stint at 1-AA Austin Peay. He was a loser everywhere else.
A coach with experience has been the best we've had in DI football. 05-stirthepot
Bill Clark - JSU???

SOLD!
I'll take him.

We have so many options in Alabama alone. There's no reason to do a national search.
