Rutgers lost their home game yesterday to Fairleigh Dickinson, 73-72. There were 54 free throws. Fairleigh Dickinson made 21 and Rutgers made 20. Fairleigh Dickinson made eleven 3-pointers. Rutgers's best scorer and rebounder, Kadeem Jack, didn't play due to a leg injury.

Fairleigh Dickinson has a rating of 341 from KenPom.com. This drops Rutgers to a rating of 212. Only ten schools have a lower rating than Fairleigh Dickinson. This loss for Rutgers was a disaster, and it knocked UAB from 111 to 115. This was FDU's first win over a D1 school this season.

The two worst teams on Rutgers schedule were Florida A&M, which they beat by 8, and Fairleigh Dickinson, which they loss to by 1 point.

What does it mean to UAB? Well, thank goodness UAB came back to beat Rutgers by 3 points in the second game of the season. It was a hard-fought win. But it is turning out to be an insignificant win as Rutgers is destined to be one of the worst teams in the AAC.
All that matters at this point is that we got the win. That loss at home would've been a super-WTF.

Right now rpiforecast is projecting us to finish 18-12. I think we'll be at least two wins better than that, but it's simply too early. If we play like we did vs New Mexico in conference play, we could make some noise.
Yeah, about a week ago, RPI forecast had us at 20 wins.(and only dogs in 2 games the rest of the way) It is far too early, and things are far to fluid right now to put stock into anything. We just need to focus on winning the games we should, and work our butts off to upset UNC or LSU.

*UNC and LSU
And Northeastern
Yeah, Northeastern is also a big game. It's a shame that they lost a couple of crap games and couldn't pull off another win in their tourney, but they appear to be a solid squad.
Rutgers losses don't matter. We just have to worry about our own record. And we have to win the conference tournament.

No matter what anyone says, I am 100 percent convinced no matter what our regular season record is, the only way we, or any other team in our conference gets to the dance, is by getting the automatic bid.

C-USA is a one-bid league.
I don't agree with that. If we went on a tear and only had 5 losses TOTAL, including one in the tourney, with several top 100 wins and 2-3 top 50 wins, we'd be a lock go get in.

That's a long shot to happen, but if it did, I think we'd get in.

Same goes for Charlotte or any other top 3-4 team in our league.
Yeah, I disagree too. If we win out OOC, and then go 14-2 in conference with a loss to say MTSU and Southern Miss, I don't see how we wouldn't get an at large. And at the moment, Charlotte has put themselves in a very good position for an at large. Let's say USM finds a way to win at Louisville too. It's still way too early to say it's a one bid league.(although at the moment that is what it looks like)

So that is something to cheer about? CUSA doesn't have to be to be a one-bid league but some of you don't seem to get it.
"Doesn't have to be.." Maybe it doesn't "have" to be but it will be.

You don't know that it will be.
I disagree that it's a one bid league. I think you've got three teams (UAB, USM, and Charlotte) that could make the tournament.
Cannot lose to UNC, LSU or Northeastern if we want an at large bid.
I hate this environment of trying to map which games you can win or lose. What I'd we beat UNC LSU and Northeastern and then go .500 in conference play, or lose to Alabama A&M. According to the logic on this board, we won the magical games so we should be oK.

Just cheer for wins as we go, and then take a measure at the end of the season.
This same FDU team beating a 4-2 Seton Hall (RPI #54) team by 4 with under 10 minutes to go.

I think they were beat by Zona by like 40. College basketball is crazy.
FDU beats Seton Hall 58-54. Seton Hall isn't bad either. I think they beat Va Tech and lost to Oklahoma by just 1.

Wow! Perhaps it wasn't such a bad loss for Rutgers after all.
