You are correct and I hope that the 'sandwich games' of Green Bay and Oakland aren't let downs as the team is beaten down by KY, UMass and Purdue. With Duke and Syracuse after GB and Oakland.

This is the schedule from hell.
This is our next game so we a three page thread. Normal stuff from an opponents varied fan base.
UmassHoops EMU thread
yup. this is a wild stretch of games. i'd like to see two wins during the UMass, Purdue, Green Bay, Oakland stretch. based on how each team has done so far, Oakland seems to be the most winnable game. If Talley and Lee are healthy, i think they'll give Chazz Williams (sp?) fits when UMass comes to town. that could be interesting. Green Bay is supposed to have good size and i'm not sure if our bigs are up to the challenge yet.

for the Kentucky, Syracuse and Duke games, if we can at least be close in one of those (down less than 10 over the final few minutes) i'll be ecstatic. if we actually win one of them i'll buy everyone booze at The Wurst Bar before the subsequent home game. 04-cheers

thanks for posting the link. i love the conversation about our attendance. there was one comment like "with a ranked opponent coming to town, there will be at least 4,000 people there." seems like some of your fans don't understand the attendance woe depths that we've achieved in football and basketball. we might have 1,000 people there.

i tried registering on your board to post some thoughts, but each username was 'disallowed'. not sure what's up with that. basically, our best chance to beat you all is to swarm Chazz and make a lot of 3s.
Read down 7-9 posts down in this thread.
How to register and note on last post added people on Nov 21st
Quote:If you want to register for the board, here's what you have to do:

E-mail me at webmaster at umasshoops dot com. (If you're reading this, you know how to put that into a real e-mail address.)
Ask to be registered on the board.
Tell me what user name you want.
You will be registered to the e-mail address you're sending from.
Finally, tell me why you want to post on the board. Tell me something about UMass, so I know you're for real.

Note: I'm not able to process requests right away as they come in. Please be patient!
I think we have a better than average chance of getting 3 and an outside chance of 4.
I'd be happy with wins against GB and Oakland, while maintaining good health.
Not going to start a new thread, so bumping this one. Our thread is now 4 pages.

Quote:Good point Marty. We only have 2 true road games (FSU not on campus, but will still be tough so you can say 3 if you want) before conference play; at EMich and at Ohio. They'll both be important to prepare us for playing on the road in conference.

I thought I was the board optimist. 03-lmfao

Oakland looks very winnable. Green Bay possible/probable. UMass difficult. Purdue possible, but paybacks are sometimes hell. Syracsue and Duke are OMG games.

I just hope the team doesn't collapse playing this type of schedule all within a month.

BTW. BSU just got crushed by a good Cle State team. Our win over CSU was impressive and showed how good we can become.
Good teams beat good teams at HOME. I expect Eastern to beat UMass. No excuses, just win.04-cheers

I agree with your logic but your 'data' is flawed.

EMU is a good team. UMass is a very good to excellent team.

We need clarity here. 03-idea

According to the Sagarins, I believe UMass will be say an 8 or 9 point favorite.

OMG! UMass is ranked#24. Marcus Camby is out of eligibility. Typically, the best MAC team should be able to win on their home floor against such a team...Ohio and Akron being recent examples. Either you think EMU is legit or not, but at some point you have to beat SOMEBODY. EMU 74 UMass 73

I don't think you are correct (that Akron and Ohio have beaten top 25 teams within the regular season).

I'd like to see your evidence.

Pls. feel free to go to the main MAC board and ask the posters for thei recollections.

Nope. Can't recall either.

BobW reminds me of the kindergarten girl in the AT&T commercial "Cutest Kid" (where she said, "raisin before it turns into a grape" and he says 'that isn't how it works' and then says "are you trying to win cutest kid contest?" and she says "yes'.).

Bob is trying to win the most provocative poster award: former EMU player and H.S. coach to be next EMU HC, a former EMU player to be AD (Banaszak), etc.
BTW, according to the main MAC board, the MAC was 11 - 5 last week (one of the L's was ours, but understandable).
Actually, thinking EMU will win at HOME vs the #24 team is NOT really going out on a limb. I know Steve would be happy beating nobody but the Spring Arbors of the world but to legitimize your program, you have to beat a good team IF you are REALLY a good team...UMass is good, not great.

Top 25 teams rarely travel to MAC gyms. Its a huge advantage. MAC teams usually have to beat top 25 teams on the road or at neutral sites like Ohio did vs Michigan-in the NCAA tournament, slightly more important than a December regular season game.

Aim higher! This is EMU, not Wayne State!
