Not thrilled about Big East bowls on the West Coast, but San Diego is a great destination.
Beats Toronto.
San Diego is a great town, and it would be a good location for a bowl game for folks who want to travel to a place with perfect winter weather. However, unless WVU or Louisville went to the game I doubt many would turn up.
Do not get your hopes up based on this article. The Poinsettia Bowl was created to shut the MWC up from whining about losing the Holiday Bowl. It was intended to be a showcase for the MWC and Navy.

Due to probably losing the Houston Bowl, the Big 12 is going to use their muscle with the Holiday Bowl people to take over the at-large (read Navy) slot in the Poinsettia Bowl themselves, at least this year.

This is the reason Navy made a deal with the Meineke Car Care Bowl for this season and it helps explain why the deal is only for 2006. Navy must be assuming the Big 12 will leave the Poinsettia next year.

As for the Big East getting that bowl, please, stop the madness. That was bowlspeak by the director. He also mentioned the Big Ten and so on. He is just being polite. Please be sensible and just let it go.

That's funny we brought 10,000 to Arizona over the winter and that's with a diehard fanbase about a third the size of either of the schools. With each year the numbers will grow for us but we'll take at least that to San Diego.
