The AAC has as many teams in this week's Coaches Poll as the ACC, Big Ten or Big XII. Impressive, especially considering the fact that the AAC only has 9 teams compared to 12, 14 and 10 for the others who are more established. This bodes well for the future of AAC football.
The ACC and Big XII each have two top 10 teams. The B1G has two top 11 teams. The American's top ranked member, and best team, is departing to the ACC. The American doesn't measure up to either of those three conferences.
It's not a well thought out conclusion. As of today, it shows that the AAC is inferior to the other P5 conferences but better than the rest of the G5. Considering that the best performing team is leaving at the end of the BB season, it's a little embarrassing. If UL wins the American, it's not a good sign IMHO.

But I do like the American and hope it does well for itself in its endeavors, except when it involves my alma mater of course.
best performing team? in football that is UCF- who beat Louisville at their place. Only the moron voters won't acknowledge that little fact.

UCF is a likeable team, and why shouldn't they play in one of the top 5 bowls, Miko?

But they need to change those pale gold unis - not enough contrast against the visitors' white.
We like playing against the ACC 07-coffee3
the top of the aac is pretty good......

however: temple, uconn, Memphis rutgers and south florida are pretty much a giant dumpster fire right now
Top of the AAC is good, the bottom was bad this year. ECU coming in next year, looking good at 9-2 with
wins over UNC and NC State.
Which “bottom of the conference” is good?
The ACC with Wake at 4-7, NC State at 3-8, and Virginia at 2-9 with these 3 teams combining for 2 conference wins?

How about the Big 12 with WVU and TCU at 4-7, Kansas at 2-8 and Iowa State at 2-9?

Big 10 with Northwestern, Indiana and Illinois all at 4-7 and Purdue 1-10, combined 3-25 in conference?

PAC 12 with Cal at 1-11 and Colorado and Utah both at 4-7 with a combined conference record of 2-23?

Even the mighty SEC with Arkansas at 3-8, Florida and Tennessee at 4-7 and Kentucky at 2-9, with those 4 teams combining for a 4-25 conference record?

I always scratch my head at the logic that conference A is stronger than conference B because the programs that suck in conference A don’t suck as bad as the garbage in conference B. New flash, they all suck and there is no valor being the thinnest kid at fat kids camp.

That doesn't necessarily make UCF the better team, does it? It just means that UCF beat Louisville. Louisville has better coaching and far more NFL talent, which is why they're ranked higher in non-computer polls, and why they get more respect than UCF.

Why even play games?

Looking only at records, can be a little deceiving. Memphis came within 7 points of beating both Louisville and UCF. Temple and UConn have played quality teams such as Notre Dame and Michigan very tough. Rutgers, who is leaving anyway, is having trouble with AAC teams but beat an SEC school. Bottom line: a young conference in only its first year and having only 10 teams has as many schools in the Top 25 as 3 P5 conferences. That is a fact and cannot be denied.

Using that logic UNC is better than ECU and so is NC State.

Hmm... by that logic then I think you could put most of the AAC ahead of Syracuse.

I feel dumber after reading that statement.

We won't be down for long. UConn doesn't know how to fail; nearly all of our athletic programs perform very well.
UCF barely lost to an excellent USC team. Cincy has found their stride after mid-season changes made by coach TT.

Maybe UCF, UL, and Cincy are in the high-teens to twenties, but how can you not consider the fact that AAC teams will always suffer from perception. Who knows, maybe UCF and UL could hang with most teams ranked around 5-15....Arizona beat the crap out of Oregon and I know they can hang with Zona.

The reality is that UCF and Cincy can probably hang with a good amount of the top 20 but will suffer from perception. If the top of the AAC can do very well OOC next year that should help... keep grinding...charge on...gmfp... whatever the slogan we want to adopt is.
