missed a really exciting game. Taylor Ford picked up two quick fouls in the first two minutes or so and ended up sitting most of the first half. She fouled out later in the game. We played Freshmen I'd never heard of and some did some nice things, although they made some Freshman mistakes late in the game that nearly cost us the game.

Taylor Gault was oustanding. She didn't start, but when the game was on the line, she made play after play, both on offense and defense. She really stepped up. Memphis had a pretty good team, and we were able to pull off a win in overtime. It looked pretty bleak there for awhile, but all's well that ends well. As much playing time as these newbies are getting, we'll be pretty salty once again when conference play begins.04-cheers
Don't know how our girls won the game. 30 fouls, can't rebound, and certainly aren't playing Foley defense. They play defense flat footed. Turnovers galore. They did battle though. I'll give them that much. Foley's got his hands full if he gets close to 20 wins this year. But if it can be done, he's the guy that can do it.

April Gault finally made a layup last night, bless her heart. Whoever the layup coach is needs to be re-evaluated.

Is there a reason why you keep referring to Taylor Gault as April? I assume you know her real name, so it must be some sort of nickname you've come up with. Or not!04-cheers

I think April must be related to the Higgins that Inside keeps talking about.

You guys will be good, you always have been since Foley's been there but I disagree with the fact that Memphis is pretty good. They were beaten by Samford this year and had a close win with wright State.

Just another screw-up on my part. Yes I know her name, but for some reason I sometimes call her April. Don't know why, other than maybe we've got too many Taylors.

I agree with BigD. I didn't think Memphis was very good. We were lucky, very lucky to win the game. We made too many mistakes, didn't play good defense, didn't rebound, and they out shot us by 5% from the field. We did hit our free throws and they didn't. I believe we will get better, but right now we're not very good without those two starters. I don't know how we managed to be in position to even make it to overtime. Foley kept us in the game by doing a good juggling act with his players.

How good this Memphis team is or not is somewhat irrelevant. Memphis is a high major program basketball wise, and for us to beat a team like that is a nice accomplishment. Let's just enjoy the moment.04-cheers

Name brands huh? While the Memphis men's basketball team is a name brand, are the women? I may be wrong, but I don't think they are. How good or bad they are is relevant when you struggle to beat a team that isn't that good, on your home court.
I have no idea how good the Memphis Ladies are, don't know who all their opponents have been. Maybe they didn't take the Trojans serious enough. I'm sure their coaches are very disappointed. 56% FT, 16% 3 pt, 21 turnovers etc while out-rebounding the Trojans 41 TO 28. But Trojans played a lot of Fr. and So. I can see lots of potential for the next 2 yrs or so with such as Pratt, Keys, James, and returning vets Cobbins, Dillard. And Foley may have his pt, guard in Charde Collins. If he could only get lucky and sign a good 6-2 or 6-3 post player similar to the Memphis player Pa'Sonna Hope. Actually I would like to see both Fohne and Cobbins redshirted.
